{"id":593838,"date":"2024-08-02T05:12:49","date_gmt":"2024-08-02T12:12:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=593838"},"modified":"2024-08-02T05:12:49","modified_gmt":"2024-08-02T12:12:49","slug":"paris-olympics-james-guy-to-return-for-another-crack-at-400-free-in-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/paris-olympics-james-guy-to-return-for-another-crack-at-400-free-in-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Paris Olympics: James Guy To Return For Another Crack At 400 Free In 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Paris Olympics: James Guy To Return For Another Crack At 400 Free In 2025<\/h4>\n<p><strong>James Guy<\/strong> revealed he is set to make a return to the 400 free, nine years to the day since he won world silver over eight lengths at <strong>Kazan 2015<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Far from being on the brink of hanging up his goggles, the 28-year-old will follow coach <strong>Ryan Livingstone<\/strong> when he moves from Millfield <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ryan-livingstone-coach-of-matt-richards-james-guy-to-take-up-lead-role-at-manchester-performance-centre\/\">to take up the role of Aquatics GB Manchester Performance Centre Lead Coach.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Guy has been galvanised <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/two-time-olympic-champion-james-guy-to-leave-bath-national-centre-after-seven-years\/\">since switching from Bath Performance Centre to Millfield<\/a> in south-west England after a seven-year stint working under Jol Finck and latterly Dave McNulty, as he collected Olympic, world, European and Commonwealth titles.<\/p>\n<p>Seeking &#8220;a change of stimulus,&#8221; I\u2019ll definitely keep going after this, I\u2019m not retiring.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;People say I\u2019m retiring, it\u2019s peeing me off a little bit, but I\u2019m definitely keeping going 100 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A personal best time in the 200 freestyle and I\u2019m going to give the 400 a crack next year at the trials. I love Dave but it just wasn\u2019t practical at the end.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Guy finished 23rd in the 100 fly prelims on Friday morning in 52.23, his only individual swim of Paris 2024.<\/p>\n<p>He didn&#8217;t mince his words, saying: &#8220;Rubbish. Honesty\u2019s the best policy. For some reason the fly didn\u2019t really kick in this year.
