IOWA CITY, Iowa, July 20. IVY Martin threw down the third-best 50 free time by an American this year, while her Wisconsin Aquatics team ran away with the combined team title as the Speedo Champions Series sectional meet at the University of Iowa Aquatic Center wrapped up tonight.<\/p>\n

Katherine Drabot of Ozaukee Aquatics picked up right where she left off last night \u2013 with another top three finish in the opening event. Drabot, who won the 200 free and 400 IM earlier in the meet, added a third title with a 2:16.54 in the women\u2019s 200 IM. Ruby Martin of the host Iowa Flyers came in second in a personal best 2:18.18, while Minnesota Aquatics\u2019 Tori Simenec placed third in 2:18.28. Wisconsin Aquatics\u2019 Michael Weiss picked up his third win of the meet as well after posting the fastest time in the men\u2019s 200 IM final. Weiss moved up three spots from his fourth place showing in prelims to take the win in 2:04.06, with top seed and teammate Andrew Teduits right behind in 2:04.45. Jae Park of Nasa Wildcat rounded out the top three in 2:04.75.<\/p>\n

Barrington Swim Club\u2019s Kristen Jacobsen set a new pool record en route to a winning time of 16:48.66 in the women\u2019s 1500 free, dropping 13 seconds from her previous best time. Morgan Dickson of Patriot Aquatic Club dropped 14 seconds to finish second in 16:54.85. Wisconsin Aquatics\u2019 Jenny Holtzen came in third in 17:08.34.<\/p>\n

After winning the 100 fly last night, Wisconsin Aquatics\u2019 Ivy Martin added another victory, this time in the 50 free. Martin touched in 25.10, which is the third-fastest time by an American this year behind Madison Kennedy\u2019s 24.78 and Natalie Coughlin\u2019s 24.97. Martin\u2019s time also established a new pool and meet record in the event. Chase Kinney, also of Wisconsin Aquatics, placed second in 25.81, while Academy Bullets\u2019 Avery Braunecker claimed third in 26.45. Badger\u2019s Derek Toomey dropped almost half a second from his prelim swim to take the men\u2019s sprint free title in 22.76, a new pool record. Brian Anderson of St. Charles Swim Team came in more than three tenths behind in 23.11, while Club Hawkeye\u2019s Brandon Farnum took third in 23.44.<\/p>\n

Sean Maloney of Wisconsin Aquatics dipped under 16-minutes for the first time in his career en route to a win in the men\u2019s 1500 free. Maloney dropped a 15:59.23 to smash his best time of 16:08.01 and top teammate Nicholas Caldwell (16:00.12) by less than a second. Coloradoan Nathan Mueller, who\u2019s headed to Wisconsin in the fall, took third in 16:16.55.<\/p>\n

The Schroeder YMCA foursome of Ashlyn Schoof, Gwendolyn Worlton, Hannah Saiz and Alexandra Meyers set a new pool record of 4:11.83 on their way to a win in the women\u2019s 400 medley relay. Wisconsin Aquatics\u2019 Anne Tamblyn, Maria Carlson, Grace Wold and Alexandria Frasier finished in 4:16.80 to take second, while Ozaukee Aquatics\u2019 Autumn Haebig, Samantha Senczyszyn, Katherine Drabot and Skylar Fore placed third in 4:19.16. Wisconsin Aquatics claimed the men\u2019s relay title in 3:47.22, thanks to Austin Byrd, Jacob Mandli, Harrison Tran and Brett Pinfold. John Colin, Andrew Marciniak, Byron Butler and Jordan Huff gave Dubuque Area a second place finish with their 3:49.44, while the Wisconsin B team of Ryan O\u2019Donnell, Sean Maloney, Matthew Hutchins and Damon Zito took third in 3:52.42.<\/p>\n

Wisconsin Aquatics claimed the combined team title with 1,539 points, ahead of Nasa Wildcat Aquatics (462) and Minnesota Aquatics (410).<\/p>\n
