OXFORD, Ohio, July 20. IT has been an intense weekend of swimming at the Ohio State Junior Olympics at Miami University. As previously reported, the Ohio State Swim Club lowered the 10-and-under national age group record in the girls 200-meter free relay before losing the 11-12 400-meter medley relay record to a disqualification.<\/p>\n
Additionally, the Cincinnati Marlins downed the boys 13-14 national age group record in the 800-meter free relay.<\/p>\n
Even more record-breaking has gone down at the meet as the Ohio State quartet of Riley Huddleston, Martina Peroni, Ava Lachey and Hannah Routh put up a 2:19.25 in the 10-and-under 200-meter medley relay time trial. That effort clipped the long-standing 1983 record of 2:19.30 set by Mission Viejo’s Stephanie Rosenthal, Cecilia Stavros, Amanda Wightman and Dana Winn.<\/p>\n
In other swims, the Cincinnati Marlin team of Justin Grender (28.75), Jake Foster (31.50), Nicholas Perera (27.16) and Joshua McDonald (24.76) clocked a 1:52.17 in the boys 13-14 200-meter medley relay. Their swim beat the previous record of 1:52.78 set by KING’s Thomas Anderson, Mitch Hovis, Koppany Kolyvek and Zach Johnson back in 2012.<\/p>\n
Grender (1:01.80), Foster (1:08.70), Perera (59.94) and McDonald (53.98) followed the next day with a 4:04.42 in the boys 13-14 400-meter medley relay. That time beat the 2013 national age group mark of 4:05.87 set by Aquazot’s Andrew Knoell, Matthe Lee, Timmy Hanson and Sean Messer.<\/p>\n
