GIMCHEON, South Korea, July 20. TAE Hwan Park took a backseat for the first time at Korean Nationals as An Sehyeon took down the Korean record in the women’s 100-meter fly here in Gimcheon.<\/p>\n
She set the women’s 100-meter fly Korean record with a time of 58.56. That performance cleared the previous mark of 58.63 from the National Sports Festival in Incheon last October. Her previous best this year had been a 59.37 from the Japan Swim last month. Her time tonight jumped her up into the top 25 in the world. <\/p>\n
With that time, she could be a medal contender at the Asian Games. The top time from Asia so far this year is a 57.54 from China’s Chen Xinyi at Chinese Nationals with Natsumi Hoshi also owning a 58.56 from the Japan Swim. Last summer, she took 19th in the 200 fly at Worlds with a 2:13.26 and has been focusing on the shorter-distance event. <\/p>\n
Yang Jeong Du topped the men’s 50-meter freestyle with a time of 22.92 to set a meet record. Meanwhile, Lee Jae Young won the women’s 50-meter free in 25.81. Yoon Seok Hwan hit the wall in 53.85 to set a meet record in the men’s 100-meter fly. Kim Mung Hwan posted a meet-record 28.46 in the men’s 50-meter breaststroke with Hye Jin Kim taking the women’s 50-meter breaststroke in 32.03. <\/p>\n
