Photo Courtesy Wade Brennan (Swimming Australia)<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both girls have the same coach: <strong>Dean Boxall.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But they train in different programs within the same squad and at the same pool &#8211; Ariarne in the distance group, Mollie in the sprint lanes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">World record-holder Titmus, 23, who has already tasted individual gold here in Paris in the successful defence of her 400m freestyle crown \u2013 coming down to the 200m as she chases another defence of her other Tokyo title.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/olympics.com\/en\/paris-2024\/schedule\/swimming?day=27-july\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2024-olympic-games-coverage-paris\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2024 Paris Olympics Meet Page<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Former world record holder O\u2019Callaghan, 20, the 2023 world champion who had that world record taken off her by Titmus at the Australian Trials match race, who has also tasted gold in the 4x100m freestyle -coming up to the 200m.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Australia\u2019s greatest female Paralympic swimmer, <strong>Ellie Cole,<\/strong> has transitioned from pool to pool deck and her interviews for <em>Channel 9<\/em> with both Titmus and\u00a0 O\u2019Callaghan have provided some honest insights into the two fastest ever female 200m freestylers on the eve of what will be an almighty re-match with the highest stakes on the line &#8211; Olympic gold!<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both girls from the same club: St Peters Western Lutheran College on the outskirts of Brisbane speak about nerves, tactics, sleeping and final preparations for what is tipped to be the main event on the Day Three finals program at the Paris La Defense Arena.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Here is what Mollie had to say:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>The mindset and planning: <\/strong>This is my first individual race at an Olympics so I\u2019m just stoked to be here and to have such a stacked semi-final with <strong>Siobhan Haughey<\/strong> and Arnie as well as countless other women so I just wanted to think about myself and setting it up for tomorrow and touching the wall to get into the top three, \u00a0but I\u2019m very happy with that time and how I swam\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>On the 4x100m freestyle gold:<\/strong> \u201cI am always happy to (swim) a relay. It\u2019s a bit daunting going straight in to a final in the 4&#215;100 free ..I was absolutely nervous on the blocks\u2026but I was glad to start (my Games program) off with the three other girls and with that support\u2026so it was a great way to start the meet\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Managing your nerves:<\/strong> \u201cI was a lot calmer today than I was at (Trials)\u2026. the pressure of having that world record previously really weighed on me in that final\u2026.but to walk in here I thought (just think) this is (your) first Olympics. I\u2019ve got no title on my head\u2026I\u2019ve got nothing to lose here\u2026so it\u2019s just all go and no thought.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cObviously I\u2019ve still got nerves\u2026I\u2019m lying in bed (at the Village) trying to nap and I can\u2019t nap because I\u2019m over thinking so much\u2026but I have an amazing support team behind me\u2026that I text and communicate with\u2026.and who are always there for me\u2026.a lot of them have travelled over here using their own money\u2026.to support us\u2026.So we all appreciate that, the ones who have helped me get to this point so far\u2026.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Preparations for the final:<\/strong> \u201cI hope I\u2019m all ready for tomorrow, tonight; and I\u2019ll try and get as much sleep as I can\u2026.I have to warm down, get back to the Village and nap and sleep as much as I can\u2026but I\u2019m really excited to race Arnie tomorrow night\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And it was Arnie with the final word.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>The semi-final:<\/strong> \u201cI\u2019m excited (after that) It\u2019s good to have a race. It\u2019s going to be a tough race tomorrow night for sure\u2026. but it will be good to see what I\u2019m capable of\u2026just really keen to get out there and have another crack.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Preparations:\u201d<\/strong> I\u2019m two days in and I shouldn\u2019t be complaining. I. actually had a good rest today\u2026. I slept for two hours which is nice\u2026. I\u2019ll come in for a light swim in the morning\u2026. And I should be ready to go tomorrow night\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Race Tactics:<\/strong> \u201cThe 200 is a tricky one when I\u2019m coming down from the 400m with a lot of the girls coming up from the 100\u2026. I\u2019ve got to go out and hold on\u2026it\u2019s tough but I\u2019ve got to play to play to my strengths and it\u2019s been working lately\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No woman has ever defended the Olympic 200m freestyle gold since it was added to the Olympic program in Mexico City in 1968.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And of those 14 Olympic finals between Mexico and Tokyo only two have been won by Australian swimmers \u2013 <strong>Shane Gould<\/strong> in Munich in 1972 and <strong>Susie O\u2019Neill<\/strong> in Sydney 2000.<\/p>\n<p>Will the winner have to break the world record.?
