GRESHAM, Oregon, July 18. TAYLOR Ruck, Carter Griffin, Michelle Cefal and Andrew Torres each won their second event of the meet during the fourth night of finals at the Mt. Hood Community College Aquatic Center in Gresham.<\/p>\n
After finishing on the podium a couple of times already, Lisa Bratton of the Tri City Channel Cats claimed her first win of the meet with a 1:03.12 in the women\u2019s 100 back. She didn\u2019t win by much, as Boise YMCA\u2019s Samantha Wicks finished only .09 behind in 1:03.21. Natilee Ruiz, also of the Tri City Channel Cats, rounded out the top three in 1:03.29. Carter Griffin of the DU Hilltoppers picked up his second win of the meet in the men\u2019s 100 back, posting a 56.49 to top teammate Kyle Robrock (58.12) and Lake Oswego\u2019s Curtis Klein (58.19).<\/p>\n
Fourteen-year-old Taylor Ruck of Scottsdale continued her outstanding meet with another big win in the women\u2019s 400 free. Ruck dropped more than 10 seconds from her prelim swim to win in 4:16.30, almost three seconds in front of Madeline Myers of the Jeffco Hurricanes. Boulder Swimming\u2019s Amanda Richey recorded a personal best en route to a third place finish of 4:19.12. Hawaiian Kacy Johnson earned the men\u2019s 400 free title in convincing fashion as he touched in 4:01.72, three seconds ahead of Mt. Hood\u2019s Nicholas Thorne (4:04.89). Peter Kotson of the Helena Lions wound up third in 4:05.15.<\/p>\n
Ashley Grijalva of Rio Salado put on a show in the women\u2019s 100 breast, defeating the rest of the championship field by a second with a 1:11.92. Heather Harper of the Boise YMCA claimed second in 1:12.89, while 13-year-old Zoe Bartel of Fort Collins Area Swim Team touched third in 1:13.52. Longmont\u2019s Connor Dwyer won the men\u2019s 100 breast in 1:03.86, while Altitude Performance Swim Team\u2019s Austin Smith (1:04.11) and Arizona Marlins\u2019 Matthew Anderson (1:04.32) rounded out the top three.<\/p>\n
After winning the 200 fly last night, Tualatin Hills\u2019 Michelle Cefal made it a sweep of the butterfly events with another win in the 100. Cefal posted a 1:01.74 to out-do Hawaiian Jasmine Alkhaldi (1:02.23) and Jeffco Hurricanes\u2019 Erin Metzger-Seymour (1:02.31). Andrew Torres gave the Jeffco Hurricanes another top-three finish in the men\u2019s final as he won the race in 53.65, his second win of the meet after winning the 200 fly earlier. Maxim Yakubovich of Portland Aquatic Club came in second in 54.74 while Brent Creager of Arizona Gold placed third in 55.22.<\/p>\n
The Tualatin Hills girls put a cherry on top of the evening with a win in the final 400 free relay. Grace Carlson, Sara Metzsch, Celia Keany and Keaton Blovad touched in 3:52.99 to beat Denver Swim Academy\u2019s Lindsay Painton, Amy Lenderink, Brooke Stenstrom and Ann Ochitwa (3:55.23). Julie Gibson, Gabriella Fagan, Grace Laporte and Taylor Ruck finished in the top three as well with a 3:55.66. Aces Swim Club cruised to the men\u2019s relay win as Daryl Turner, Andrew Hartbarger, Connor Croan and Jake Markham stopped the clock in 3:28.85. The DU Hilltoppers\u2019 Kyle Robrock, Clarence Guillory, Darian Brunetti and Carter Griffin placed second in 3:32.01. RallySport Aquatic Club\u2019s foursome of William Van Dehy, Connor Corrigan, Chris Nicholson and Josh Roeber rounded out the top three finishers in 3:33.81.<\/p>\n
