The victory was her second of the meet after previously topping the 800 free Tuesday evening. Georgia&#8217;s <strong>Rachel Stege<\/strong> took second (4:07.39), with <strong>Kate Hurst<\/strong> well back in third (4:10.89) while <strong>Bella Sims<\/strong>, a finalist in the event at last year&#8217;s World Championships, fell to fifth in 4:11.42, more than nine seconds off her best time.<\/p>\n<p>Fresh off <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/rex-maurer-kayla-han-record-strong-400-im-performances-at-speedo-summer-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a dominant 400 IM performance one night earlier<\/a>, new Texas Longhorn\u00a0<strong>Rex Maurer<\/strong> captured first place in the men&#8217;s 400 free in 3:48.72, ahead of Ohio State&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Charlie Clark<\/strong> (3:49.87) and\u00a0<strong>Silas Beth<\/strong> (3:51.21). Also winning for the second time this week was\u00a0<strong>Trenton Julian<\/strong>, with the Mission Viejo swimmer going 51.97 in the men&#8217;s 100 butterfly. Julian previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/trenton-julian-blasts-154-71-200-fly-at-speedo-summer-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">swam a time that would have been good enough to qualify for the Olympic team in the 200 fly<\/a>. He was followed by Sun Devil&#8217;s <strong>Grant House<\/strong> (52.56) and Indiana&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Dylan Smiley<\/strong> (52.80).<\/p>\n<p>Foxjets&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Caroline Larsen<\/strong> finished a half-second clear of the field in the women&#8217;s 100 fly in 58.73, ahead of Michigan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brady Kendall<\/strong> (59.34) and\u00a0Pitt&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sydney Gring<\/strong> (1:00.08). The Swim Team&#8217;s <strong>Macky Hodges<\/strong> topped the women&#8217;s 200 backstroke in 2:12.72, followed by Indiana&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Anna Freed<\/strong> (2:13.54) and Kentucky&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Grace Frericks<\/strong> (2:13.89), while the men&#8217;s race went to Indiana&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Owen McDonald<\/strong> in 1:59.13, ahead of Michigan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jack Wilkening<\/strong> (2:00.10) and McCallie&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sam Powe<\/strong> (2:01.47).<\/p>\n<p>In the 200 free relay, the Michigan women&#8217;s team of\u00a0<strong>Claire Newman<\/strong>,\u00a0Kendall,\u00a0<strong>Abbey Ketslakh<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Lindsay Flynn<\/strong> won in 1:40.39. The Indiana men won in 1:29.27 with McDonald, Smiley,\u00a0<strong>Finn Brooks<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Max Lestina<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Forty-six American swimmers qualified to represent the Stars and Stripes at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2024-olympic-games-coverage-paris\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paris Olympics<\/a>, and for those who did not qualify, USA Swimming is offering this summer championship meet that takes the place of a usual late-July\/early-August Nationals and Junior Nationals.
