(Results)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PHOENIX, Arizona, July 18. WE&#8217;RE exactly one week away from the first major international meet of the summer: the Commonwealth Games. Surely we will see some extremely fast times put on the scoreboard in Glasgow, but will that meet produce the most world number one times, or will another big meet do that? That was the question in our last poll, and the responses weren&#8217;t too surprising. <\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"470\" height=\"315\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eXms-DGeI0s?rel=0&#038;autoplay=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<b>YouTube Measures Views Only For Episodes Watched On YouTube<br \/>\nSubscribe to our YouTube channel, SwimmingWorldSPI<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Most voters said the Pan Pacific championships would produce the most world-leading times, with 59.33 percent of votes cast for that meet. The Commonwealth Games did come in second in the voting with 22.98 percent. And rounding out the votes were the European championships with 11.51 percent and the Asian Games followed with 6.18 percent. We\u2019ll see if the majority of voters are right once these four meets are over and the shuffling of the world rankings subsides.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s move down from elite swimming to age group swimming and an issue that is seen at a lot of meets. Coaches sometimes enter swimmers in events with times that are much slower than their best times in order to falsely show that their team is making drastic improvements. Masters swimmers do this as well, ether to avoid direct competition or to make themselves look better in a slower field. This is called sandbagging, and though there\u2019s no rule against it, the act is frowned upon by many coaches.
