Dara Torres Adds Bruno Darzi as Boston College Associate Head Coach<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bruno Darzi<\/strong> is the first hire for Dara Torres<\/strong> as the associate head coach at Boston College, the school announced Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Darzi has spent more than three decades coaching, including with Torres as well as Olympians Vlad Polyakov<\/strong> of Kazakhstan and Arlene Semeco<\/strong> of Venezuela. He served as the coach of Uruguay at the 2019 Pan American Games and the 2019 World Junior Championships.<\/p>\n

“I’m incredibly honored and excited to have Bruno join our program as associate head coach,” Torres said in a university statement<\/a>.\u00a0 “He has over 25 years experience \u2013 15 as a head coach \u2013 and I trained with Bruno for my sixth and final Olympic Trials.\u00a0 There’s no way I would have accomplished what I did at 45 years old without his coaching and guidance. We both can’t wait to get the season going with this great group of Eagles’ swimmers.”<\/p>\n

Darzi was most recently the coach director of USA Swimming\u2019s Southern Zone, which oversees 15 LSCs across nine states. He was the general chair of Florida Gold Coast Swimming, a member of its board since 2014 and a member of USA Swimming\u2019s LSC Development Committee.<\/p>\n

Darzi has served since 2010 as the head coach of Coral Springs Swim Club. He was a five-time member of the Southern Zone Team Championships staff for FGC and was a member of the FGC All-Star coaching staff from 2004-08. He is a Level 5 certified coach by the American Swimming Coaches Association.<\/p>\n

Darzi was a competitive swimmer in Brazil, where he graduated from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro in 2002. He\u2019s a lifetime member of Brazil\u2019s National Academy of Sports Medicine.<\/p>\n
