U.S. Paralympic Trials: Morgan Stickney Improves Her 400 Free S7 World Record<\/strong><\/p>\n

Morgan Stickney<\/strong> provided the fireworks Friday on the second night of U.S. Paralympic Team Trials, lowering her world record in the women\u2019s S7 400 free.<\/p>\n

Stickney won the multi-class event in 4:51.50. That slashes nearly three seconds off the 4:54.28 world standard she had set at the World Championships in Manchester, England, last summer. Stickney, who turned 27 this month, won gold in the S8 100 free<\/a> and one a relay at the Tokyo Paralympics in 2021.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe energy on deck is very different than in Tokyo,\u201d Stickney told U.S. Para Swimming<\/a>. \u201cIt’s more energetic and fantastic having the crowd here cheering us on. My training is very different from what I was doing leading up to Tokyo, being in the hospital nine days out of the month. I wasn\u2019t expecting to come in and break the world record, it was super unexpected.\u201d<\/p>\n
