U.S. Olympic Trials: Torri Huske Scratching 200 IM Final to Focus on 50 Freestyle<\/strong><\/p>\n

After qualifying third for the final of the women’s 200 IM Friday at U.S. Olympic Trials,\u00a0Torri Huske<\/strong> has chosen to pull out of the event in an attempt to qualify for the Olympic team in the 50 freestyle.<\/p>\n

Sports Illustrated’s Pat Forde<\/strong> was the first to report the news in a post to X<\/a> shortly after the session, and\u00a0Swimming World<\/em> confirmed the significant news.<\/p>\n

Huske, already qualified for the team in the 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle, is the fourth seed in the 50 free entering the meet, and she will actually have a better chance than it may appear to qualify in the splash-and-dash with Kate Douglass<\/strong> likely focusing on the 200 IM over the 50 free. If Huske remained in the individual medley race, she would have had to overcome one of the past two world champions in the event, Douglass (2023 and 2024) or Alex Walsh<\/strong> (2022).<\/p>\n
