U.S. Olympic Trials: Women’s 50 and Men’s 1500 in Last Session of Prelims (Heat Sheet)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Saturday’s prelims will be the final day session of the U.S. Olympic Trials, with the women’s 50 freestyle and men’s 1500 freestyle on the slate. The 50 will then go to the semifinal round Saturday evening before these two events are the only finals on the meet’s final day.<\/p>\n

Kate Douglass<\/strong> and\u00a0Torri Huske<\/strong> are both scheduled to compete in the final heat of the 50, although the plans for both swimmers are unclear due to a conflict with the 200 IM, where the two women are among the favorites to qualify for the Olympic team. Veterans\u00a0Abbey Weitzeil<\/strong> and\u00a0Simone Manuel<\/strong>, the Trials qualifiers in the splash-and-dash in both 2016 and 2021, swim one heat earlier while\u00a0Gretchen Walsh<\/strong>, who broke the world record in the 100 butterfly at the start of the meet, will swim in the first circle-seeded heat.<\/p>\n

After that will be seven heats of the 1500 freestyle, with the top contenders swimming in the final heat.\u00a0Bobby Finke<\/strong>, who swam the third-fastest time ever on the way to silver at last year’s World Championships, will swim in the final heat while Luke Whitlock<\/strong>, the teenager who took second in the 800 free, is in the previous heat. Daniel Matheson<\/strong> and\u00a0David Johnston<\/strong> are also in the last heat while\u00a0Charlie Clark <\/strong>and Will Gallant <\/strong>are among those in the previous heat.<\/p>\n
