SANTOS, Brazil, September 24. WINTER Long Course Nationals — also known as the Trofeu Jose Finkel –are underway in Brazil and it didn't take long for the record-breaking to begin.<\/p>\n

The first night of finals saw the meet\u2019s first South American record fall. Thiago Pereira, 17, set the record in the men\u2019s 200 meter breaststroke with a time of 2:15.63. <\/p>\n

Perira\u2019s club team, Minas Tenis Clube, is currently in third place in the team race, due in large part to its breaststroke contingent. Minas Tenis Club placed first, second and fourth in the men\u2019s 200 breast.<\/p>\n

Other winners on Day One: Flavia Delaroli, women's 50m free, 25.82; Juliana Marin, 200m breast, 2:41.85; Monique Ferreira, 800m free, 8:53.21. For the men: Marco sapucaia, 50 free, 23.04; Bruno Bonfim, 1500m free, 15:54.13.<\/p>\n
