While the Olympics might not be her last competitive swim meet, they will be her last Olympic Trials.<\/p>\n<p>King offered an emphatic reiteration of that after winning the 100 breaststroke.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNope,\u201d King deadpanned. \u201cI will not be competing in LA. I\u2019m going to watch and have fun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>King offered at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/extremely-frustrating-and-disappointing-lilly-king-other-americans-share-displeasure-at-chinese-doping-controversies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pre-meet press conference on Friday<\/a> that she will be watching the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028 as a spectator. \u201cI will not be done after this summer,\u201d she said, \u201cbut yeah, I will not be going another four years.\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2024-us-olympic-trials-indianapolis\">Meet Page<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/2024\/u-s-olympic-team-trials---swimming-live-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Results<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It\u2019s not for lack of form. King made her third Olympics in the 100 breast on Monday by winning the event in 1:05.43. That was nearly seven tenths ahead of first-time Olympian <strong>Emma Weber. \u00a0<\/strong>It left <strong>Lydia Jacoby,<\/strong> who won gold at the Tokyo Olympics, out in the cold in third by .27 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>King is one of the most distinguished female breaststrokers in history. She won gold in the 100 breast at Rio, then bronze in the 100 and silver in the 200 in Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p>Her time Monday makes her the third-fastest performer in the world this year, behind China\u2019s <strong>Qianting Tang, Evgeniia Chikunova<\/strong> of Russia and <strong>Tatjana Smith<\/strong> (nee <strong>Schoenmaker<\/strong>) of South Africa. Chikunova will not be at the Paris Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>Should this be the last Olympic Trials for King, it\u2019s a suitably triumphant one. The Evansville native and Indiana University alum is here flying the flag of the Hoosier State.
