U.S. Olympic Trials: Kate Douglass, Ryan Murphy, Regan Smith Top Seeds on Day 5 (Prelims Heat Sheet)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wednesday will mark the halfway point of the U.S. Olympic Trials, and the prelims session will include the women’s 200 breaststroke, men’s 200 backstroke and women’s 200 butterfly. The session begins at 11 a.m. ET at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis<\/p>\n

The swimmer whose photo graces the north window of Lucas Oil Stadium,\u00a0Kate Douglass<\/strong>, made her Trials debut Tuesday in the 100 freestyle, and she will swim the heats of the 200 breast as the big favorite in the event, having broken the American record earlier this year. Douglass will swim in lane four of the final heat next UVA teammate Ella Nelson<\/strong>.\u00a0Lilly King<\/strong> and\u00a0Alex Walsh<\/strong> are one heat earlier while\u00a0Lydia Jacoby<\/strong> returns to the pool in the first circle-seeded heat after a crushing third-place finish in the 100 breast.<\/p>\n

Ryan Murphy<\/strong> is the big favorite in the 200 back after clinching his Paris spot over 100 meters Monday.\u00a0Destin Lasco<\/strong> and\u00a0Jack Aikins<\/strong>, the third-place finisher in the 200 back, hold down lane four in the other seeded heats while teenager\u00a0Daniel Diehl<\/strong>, who only missed out on the 200 free final after coming up short in a swim-off, swims next to Murphy.<\/p>\n

The favorite in the women’s 200 fly is\u00a0Regan Smith<\/strong>, and in prelims, she swims next to\u00a0Alex Shackell<\/strong>, who likely secured her place in Paris with a sixth-place finish in the 200 free.\u00a0Dakota Luther<\/strong>,\u00a0Lindsay Looney<\/strong> and NCAA 200-yard fly champion\u00a0Emma Sticklen<\/strong> are one heat earlier.<\/p>\n
