U.S. Olympic Trials: 100 Freestyles Among Huge Day 4 Prelims Slate (Heat Sheet)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Day four of the U.S. Olympic Trials will include the longest prelims session of the week, with action in five events: the men’s 200 butterfly, men’s 100 freestyle, women’s 1500 freestyle, women’s 100 freestyle and men’s 200 breaststroke.<\/p>\n

Teenage star\u00a0Thomas Heilman<\/strong> is the top seed in the 200 fly after his surprising fourth-place finish at last year’s World Championships, while\u00a0Carson Foster<\/strong> will try to add another event to his Olympic schedule. He occupies lane four in the previous heat while 2021 Olympian\u00a0Zach Harting<\/strong> is the third seed. In the men’s 100 free,\u00a0Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> will make his Olympic Trials debut, racing in lane six of the second-to-last heat with\u00a0Chris Guiliano<\/strong>,\u00a0Destin Lasco<\/strong> and\u00a0Justin Ress<\/strong>. The top seed in the event is\u00a0Jack Alexy<\/strong>, the surprising silver medalist in the 100 free at last year’s World Championships.<\/p>\n

Katie Grimes\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Katie Ledecky<\/strong> occupy lane four in the top-two heats of the 1500 free while 2021 Olympic silver medalist\u00a0Erica Sullivan<\/strong> swims two lanes away from Ledecky in the last heat. Then,\u00a0Kate Douglass<\/strong> makes her Indianapolis debut in the women’s 100 free in a heat surrounded by\u00a0two of her teammates,\u00a0Maxine Parker<\/strong> and new 100 fly world-record holder\u00a0Gretchen Walsh<\/strong>. Veterans\u00a0Abbey Weitzeil<\/strong> and\u00a0Simone Manuel<\/strong> occupy the previous heat while\u00a0Torri Huske<\/strong> swims in the first circle-seeded heat.<\/p>\n

Finally,\u00a0Matt Fallon<\/strong> is favored in the men’s 200 breaststroke, with 100 breast winner\u00a0Nic Fink<\/strong> swimming one lane over in the final heat.\u00a0Josh Matheny<\/strong> and\u00a0Jake Foster<\/strong> are the other swimmers assigned to lane four in their respective heats.<\/p>\n
