U.S. Olympic Trials: Four Events Saturday Morning Begin Competition (Heat Sheet)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The U.S. Olympic Trials will begin Saturday morning with preliminary heats in four events, the women’s 100 butterfly, women’s 400 freestyle, men’s 100 breaststroke and men’s 400 freestyle. The session begins at 11 a.m. ET at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.<\/p>\n

The women’s 100 fly will see\u00a0Regan Smith<\/strong>, the heavy favorite later in the week in the 200 fly and the backstroke events, take lane four in the first circle-seeded heat, with\u00a0Gretchen Walsh<\/strong> and Indiana teenager\u00a0Alex Shackell<\/strong> following her. American-record holder\u00a0Torri Huske<\/strong> is in the final heat along with the swimmer who was the runnerup at the last Trials in 2021,\u00a0Claire Curzan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Katie Ledecky<\/strong> is the big favorite in the women’s 400 free, and she will be joined in the final heat of the event by\u00a0Claire Weinstein<\/strong> and 2023 World Championships finalist\u00a0Bella Sims<\/strong>. The previous heat includes multi-time Worlds medalist\u00a0Leah Smith<\/strong> and 2021 Olympic finalist\u00a0Paige Madde<\/strong>n<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In the men’s 100 breast,\u00a0Nic Fink<\/strong> is the top seed with\u00a0Jake Foster<\/strong> joining him in the final heat. 2023 Worlds finalist\u00a0Josh Matheny<\/strong> and American-record holder\u00a0Michael Andrew<\/strong> highlight the previous heat while 2016 Olympic bronze medalist\u00a0Cody Miller<\/strong> joins\u00a0Noah Nichols<\/strong> and former college star\u00a0Max McHugh<\/strong> one heat before that. Don’t forget about\u00a0Liam Bell<\/strong>, this year’s NCAA champion in the 100-yard breast, in heat six.<\/p>\n

Finally, the wide-open men’s 400 free sees 2021 Olympic bronze medalist\u00a0Kieran Smith<\/strong> in heat seven with\u00a0Rex Maurer<\/strong>,\u00a0Aaron Shackell<\/strong> and\u00a0Ross Dant<\/strong> while\u00a0Jake Magahey<\/strong>,\u00a0David Johnston<\/strong>,\u00a0Jake Mitchell<\/strong> and\u00a0Carson Foster<\/strong> occupy lanes three through six, respectively, in the final heat.<\/p>\n
