SARAH Sjostrom will lead a 21-member team to next month&#8217;s European championships, a roster that was officially filled Sunday after the completion of the long course nationals that served as the final qualifying meet for Sweden.<\/p>\n<p>Sjostrom heads into the European championships with a new <a href=http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/lane9\/news\/World\/39767.asp target=\"_blank\">world record in the 50 butterfly<\/a>, setting up what could be a major medal haul. Sjostrom is also going to be the woman to beat in the 100 fly as well as the 50 free and 100 free.<\/p>\n<p>Therese Alshammar is also on the list, ready to attend her first major international meet since the 2012 Olympics. Last summer, the 36-year-old Alshammar gave birth to her first child and has been working back to form in the months since. The winner of 43 European championship medals, Alshammar&#8217;s last wins at Euros came in the 50 free and 50 fly in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Stina Gardell is another notable name on the women&#8217;s roster. She could race former University of Southern California teammate Katinka Hosszu in the IM events and be a medal contender in both. Also looking for a medal in the IMs will be Simon Sjodin, especially in the men&#8217;s 200 IM.
