Florian Wellbrock To Double Up In the Pool After Germany Team Was Announced For Paris 2024<\/h4>\n

Florian Wellbrock<\/strong> will take on the 800 and 1500 freestyle as well as the open water at Paris 2024 after the Germany team was announced for the Olympics that start next month.<\/p>\n

Wellbrock had initially qualified only for the 1500 in the pool with Sven Schwarz<\/strong> and Oliver Klemet<\/strong> taking the slots for the 800<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, Klemet will compete in the open water, which will be held in the River Seine, and the 400 free with Wellbrock taking up the second spot in the 16-length event in which he won silver at the 2022 World Championships in Budapest and was fourth in Tokyo.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old had already booked his spot on the Germany team courtesy of his 1500 silver medal behind Daniel Wiffen<\/strong>\u00a0at the 2024 World Championships<\/strong> in February.<\/p>\n

Lukas M\u00e4rtens<\/strong>\u00a0, who rattled the 400 free world record<\/a> in 3:40.33 at the national trials in April, is entered into the 200\/400 free, 200 backstroke and 4×100 and 4×200 free relays.<\/p>\n

Leonie Beck<\/strong>, the double world open water champion at the 2023 worlds, Isabel Gose<\/strong> – triple medallist at Doha 2024 – and world 100 fly champion Angelina K\u00f6hler\u00a0<\/b>will also be part of the charge for the podium in Paris.<\/p>\n

Anna Elendt<\/strong>, who won 100m breaststroke silver at Budapest 2022, will race in the individual event in the French capital despite only initially qualifying for the relay.<\/p>\n

So too Luca Nik Armbruster<\/strong> in the 100 fly although his participation in the individual event is subject to the allocation of a quota place by World Aquatics.<\/p>\n
