set an Irish 100m butterfly record of 51.90 during day two prelims of the <strong>Irish Open and Olympic Trials<\/strong> in Dublin.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/danielle-hill-posts-olympic-qualification-time-with-irish-100m-backstroke-record-in-dublin\/\">Day 1 report<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The five-day event represents the last chance for swimmers to post an Olympic qualification time as well as book a spot on the teams for the European Aquatics Championships in Belgrade next month and the World Short-Course Championships in Budapest in December.<\/p>\n<p>McCusker broke his own record of 52.31 from Doha worlds at the <strong>Swim Ireland National Aquatic Centre<\/strong> in a time that was also a championship mark, taking 0.72 from <strong>Brendan Hyland&#8217;s<\/strong> 52.62 that stood since 2018.<\/p>\n<p>McCusker will now aim for the OQT of 51.67 in the evening finals.<\/p>\n<p>It was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/danielle-hill-posts-olympic-qualification-time-with-irish-100m-backstroke-record-in-dublin\/\">the second national record of the meet<\/a> so far following <strong>Danielle Hill&#8217;s<\/strong> 59.11 in the 100m backstroke on the opening night which earned her a trip to Paris 2024.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Evan Bailey<\/strong> set his second Irish junior record in as many days when he lowered his mark of 54.22 to 53.47.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The opening event of the day saw <strong>Darragh Greene<\/strong> set a new championship record of 59.91 in the 100m breaststroke, just 0.15 outside his national record of 59.76 with the OQT standing at 59.49.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Tom Fannon<\/strong> was just 0.06 outside the 50 free OQT of 21.96 as he touched in 22.02.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daniel Wiffen<\/strong> will take to the water in the 800 free in Thursday finals where brother Nathan will be looking to join his twin on the Paris team by making the OQT of 7:51.65.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Max
