Hehenberger went 58:14 in the boys 5K on the second day of three at the event in Sarasota, Fla.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/katie-grimes-wins-third-straight-10k-to-start-u-s-open-water-nationals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Katie Grimes Wins Third Straight 10K to Start U.S. Open Water Nationals<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Hansen was four seconds quicker than Long Island Aquatic Club\u2019 <strong>Alex Seigel. Zayda Miehl,<\/strong> who competes for Corvallis Aquatics in Oregon, finished third.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought the race was really hard but fun,\u201d Hansen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaswimming.org\/news\/2024\/05\/04\/saint-petersburg-aquatics-swimmers-hansen-hehenberger-win-women-s-and-men-s-5k-junior-national-championships\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told USA Swimming<\/a>. \u201cStaying in the pack was really exciting because I had people to push me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hehenberger\u2019s winning margin was six seconds. He and <strong>Nicholas Liberty<\/strong> of Rockville Montgomery Swim Club separated as a leading pack more than a minute clear. Liberty finished second in 58:20.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first two laps were nice, and as soon as the third lap started I had to pick it up,\u201d Hehenberger said. \u201cThat\u2019s when it started to hurt a lot more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Third place in the boys race went to <strong>Griffin Cagle.<\/strong> The SwimMAC Carolina swimmers clocked in at 59:48.<\/p>\n<p>The three-day event concludes Sunday
