Hubert Kos Will Transfer to Texas, Joining Bob Bowman With Longhorns<\/strong><\/p>\n

During his two seasons swimming for coach Bob Bowman<\/strong> at Arizona State University, Hungarian star Hubert Kos<\/strong> evolved from a solid medley swimmer, with one European title in the 200 IM to his credit, to one of the world’s premier backstrokers, a growth culminating with an upset win over American\u00a0Ryan Murphy<\/strong> for 200 back gold<\/a> at last year’s World Championships<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During his impressive college season this year, Kos swam among the top times in the country in both backstroke events and the 200-yard IM, breaking the NCAA record in the 200-yard back at the Pac-12 Championships<\/a>, although he lost that record at the NCAA Championships. Kos was a key contributor in Arizona State winning its first-ever national team title this season.<\/p>\n

Now, Kos has announced his intentions to follow Bowman east to Austin, Texas, with Bowman taking over the men’s head coaching position<\/a> long held by the legendary\u00a0Eddie Reese<\/strong>. The decision comes as little surprise given all the success Kos achieved during his time with Bowman as his coach.<\/p>\n

Kos wrote in an Instagram post, “First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone at ASU. The coaches, the staff, the team, the lads, and everyone who helped me along the way. This year was filled with magic moments, and I\u2019m just truly happy to have shared them with you all. With that being said, I am incredibly excited to start a new chapter at the University of Texas, and looking forward to a successful season with my new team!”<\/p>\n
