Posegay heads to Austin to reunite with <strong>Bob Bowman<\/strong>, who<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/bob-bowman-named-director-of-swimming-head-mens-coach-at-university-of-texas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> was named Director of Swimming and Diving and head coach of the men&#8217;s team last month<\/a>, succeeding retiring Longhorns legend <strong>Eddie Reese<\/strong>. Bowman accepted the job at Texas two days after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/arizona-state-wins-first-ncaa-team-title-thanks-to-grateful-bob-bowman-really-proud-leon-marchand\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">leading Arizona State to its first-ever national team title<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Posegay comes to Texas after two-plus years with USA Swimming, first as National Junior Team Program Director and then adding the title of National Coach last fall. Posegay had been in charge of organizing competition and programs for high-school-aged swimmers, including as manager of the teams bound for the Junior Pan Pacific Championships and World Junior Championships. Recently, he had run day-to-day operations at training camps for professional swimmers in Colorado Springs during college championship season, and he was head coach for the American team at the 2024 World Championships in Doha.<\/p>\n<p>Before his time working with the national governing body, Posegay coached on the national level at Penn State and at Wisconsin, where he guided <strong>Paige McKenna<\/strong> to a national title in the 1650 freestyle in his final season (2021-22). Posegay primarily worked with distance and individual medley swimmers during his previous college stints. Before that, Posegay worked with Bowman at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club before serving as head coach and CEO of the club after Bowman departed to take over the program at Arizona State.<\/p>\n<p>This hire is the first Bowman has made since taking over <a href=\"https:\/\/texassports.com\/sports\/mens-swimming-and-diving\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Longhorn men&#8217;s team<\/a>. His top lieutenant during his time with the Sun Devils, <strong>Herbie Behm<\/strong>, was promoted to head coach following Bowman&#8217;s departure, ruling the Arizona State grade out as a possibility to follow his old boss to Austin.<\/p>\n<p>Bowman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/bob-bowman-lands-dream-job-at-texas-aiming-to-build-on-eddie-reese-legacy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously indicated<\/a> that longtime Texas diving coach\u00a0<strong>Matt Scoggin<\/strong> would remain with the program (Scoggin also works with the women&#8217;s team), while the hiring of a new associate head coach, the position held by\u00a0<strong>Wyatt Collins<\/strong> for the better part of eight years since the retirement of\u00a0<strong>Kris Kubik<\/strong>, would suggest that Collins will be departing the program when Reese is finished coaching following the U.S. Olympic
