MESA, Arizona, June 27. THE City of Mesa is quickly becoming the crown jewel of swimming in the Southwest desert. Mesa already boasts a pair of Olympic-sized pools in Skyline Aquatics Center and Kino Aquatics Center. According to the Arizona Republic<\/a>, soon Mesa will be adding a seasonal short course facility to the mix.<\/p>\n

Today, the newspaper reported that the Mesa city council is about to award a $6.6 million contract to Sun Eagle Corp., to build a new facility in place of the currently aging Taylor Pool. The new Mesa Aquatic Complex would be adjacent to Mesa High School, and would including a lap pool with eight 25-yard lanes and a dive tank. Additionally, for the recreationally-minded citizens, a lazy river, a toddler slide and other water park features will be included.<\/p>\n

“Both the city and the (school) district have found great success locating a pool on a high-school campus, such as what we have at Skyline High School,” Mesa’s park development and operations administrator Andrea Moore told the Arizona Republic. “There is also great visibility of the site on the Southern and Harris corner.”<\/p>\n

This would be the third new pool added to Mesa’s already impressive lineup of aquatic facilities.
