Thirty-Three Swimmers Selected To Team GB For Paris 2024: Adam Peaty Set For Tilt At Three-Peat<\/h4>\n

Adam Peaty<\/strong> will look to do the 100m breaststroke three-peat at Paris 2024 after being named to a 33-strong Team GB<\/strong> squad across pool and marathon swimming.<\/p>\n

Three-time Olympic champion Peaty is joined by double gold medallists Tom Dean<\/strong> and James Guy<\/strong> as well as Duncan Scott<\/strong> – who became the most decorated British Olympian at a single edition with four medals in Tokyo – Anna Hopkin, Kathleen Dawson, Freya Anderson and Matt Richards, who all won gold in Japan in 2021.<\/p>\n

Peaty will represent Team GB<\/strong> at his third Games – having claimed five medals across Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 – as will Guy, Scott, Max Litchfield<\/strong> and Ben Proud<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Peaty said:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to have made my third Olympic team. It\u2019s always amazing to be part of Team GB,<\/strong> but with it being so close to home in Paris this summer, and us having more home fans there supporting us, it\u2019s even more exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Eva Okaro<\/strong> makes history as the first black woman to represent Team GB<\/strong> in the Olympic pool, three years after Alice Dearing competed in the open water in Tokyo<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ten pool swimmers will make their Olympic debut at La Defense Arena in July, including Freya Colbert<\/strong>, winner of the 400IM at the Doha World Championships, and Oliver Morgan<\/strong>, who broke the long-standing British 100 back record at the recent Olympic trials in London.<\/p>\n

Away from the pool, Tokyo Olympian Hector Pardoe<\/strong> – who clinched 10k bronze\u00a0 in Doha – makes his second successive Olympic marathon swimming team, while Leah Crisp<\/strong> and Toby Robinson<\/strong> make their Games debuts, marking the first time since Beijing 2008 that Team GB will have three athletes contesting the marathon swimming races.<\/p>\n

Team GB<\/strong> Chef de Mission Mark England<\/strong> said:<\/p>\n

\u201cTeam GB<\/strong> has a proud tradition in Olympic swimming competitions, and I am delighted to welcome all 33 athletes to the team for Paris 2024.<\/p>\n

“The strength and depth of our pool swimming team was evident to see at the recent Aquatics GB Swimming Championships, and along with the ten swimmers making their debut for Team GB it is fantastic to welcome back seven Olympic champions and nine Olympic medallists.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have no doubt the thrilling races we saw at the British Championships last week will be equally close fought. It is also fantastic to have three athletes contesting the marathon swimming races for the first time since 2008 and we\u2019re excited to watch them all compete against the best in the world.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Speaking on the 33-strong team selected for Paris, Aquatics GB Performance Director Chris Spice<\/strong> – who will be swimming Team Leader at his third Olympics – added:<\/p>\n

“This is such an exciting group of athletes that we will be taking to Paris this summer, coming off the back of a brilliant six days of racing at our Olympic selection event in the Speedo Aquatics GB Swimming Championships, featuring world-class finals performances, British records, plenty of personal bests and all of our athletes executing in the arena as we know they do so well. That is testament to the swimmers themselves, as well as the coaches and support staff working tirelessly in the background.<\/p>\n

“On top of some outstanding individual swims, the collective displays showed that we are in a really good place across multiple relay events, which has been a key focus for us over recent years – and the depth that this team possesses is fantastic.<\/p>\n

“As well as 12 Olympic debutants across the pool and marathon programmes, we will have five three-time Olympians and the valuable experiences of so many who were part of a memorable Games in Tokyo, so we cannot wait to see how this team comes together with the aim of swimming faster in the summer. We know each and every athlete can do that, and that would put us in a very good place in Paris, where we are relishing having packed crowds and plenty of British support roaring us on.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Head Coach Bill Furniss<\/strong> said:<\/p>\n

“The swimmers have come through a tough selection process and earned the chance to show what they are capable of on the Olympic stage. We have a mix of proven experience and some exciting new talent, and our relay strength is encouraging in many events.<\/p>\n

“The challenge for everyone on the team is to maximise the final months of preparation and produce their best performance of the season in the Olympic arena.”<\/p>\n
