Kristof Milak Wins Fifth Title Of Hungarian Championships With 50.99 In 100 Fly<\/h4>\n

Kristof Milak<\/strong> went 50.99 to win the 100 fly and claim his fifth gold medal of the Hungarian Championships<\/strong> in Budapest.<\/p>\n

The Olympic silver medallist split 23.72\/27.27 to wrap up a highly-successful meet at the Duna Arena<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

There was a 1:54.90 victory in the 200 fly as well as a sweep of the 50\/100\/200 free events in 21.89, 48.38 and 1:48.15 respectively.<\/p>\n

While his 100 and 200 fly times from the 2023 Hungarian nationals and his 50 free blast in Budapest were all inside the QT for Paris 2024, places on the team are not confirmed until the qualification period ends on 23 June, the final day of the European Championships in Belgrade.<\/p>\n

Simon Bucher<\/strong> of Austria was second home in 52.53 with Rich\u00e1rd Marton<\/strong> (52.66) and Anton Kochu<\/strong> (53.43) occupying the two positions on the podium behind Milak.<\/p>\n

Milak goes fourth in the 2024 rankings topped by No\u00e8 Ponti <\/b>who fired off 50.16 last week<\/a> to go sixth all-time followed by Matt Temple<\/strong> (50.25) and Katsuhiro Matsumoto<\/strong> (50.96), the quartet the only men to have broken 51 so far this year.<\/p>\n

Amina Kajtaz<\/strong> of Croatia was the first woman home in the women’s race, clocking 59.17, with Lora Fanni Komoroczy<\/strong> winning the national title in 1:00.02, the same time as Italian Elena Di Liddo.<\/p>\n

Zsuzsanna Jakabos<\/strong> – looking to compete at her fifth Olympics 20 years after her debut at Athens 2004 – was the second Hungarian home in 1:00.17 followed by Dalma Sebestyen<\/strong> (1:00.29).<\/p>\n

\u00c1d\u00e1m\u00a0Telegdy<\/strong> wrapped up the 100\/200 back double with gold in the longer race after leading throughout to win in 1:55.57.<\/p>\n

Second – 3.2secs adrift – was\u00a0\u00c1d\u00e1m Jaszo<\/strong> (1:58.77) with Benedek Kov\u00e1cs<\/strong> third in 1:59.09.<\/p>\n

Hubert Kos<\/strong> set his Hungarian record of 1:54.14 en-route to gold at the 2023 World Championships with Telegdy and Kov\u00e1cs tussling with him to get on the plane for the 200, the former now in pole position following his performance on Friday.<\/p>\n

Eszter Szab\u00f3-Felt\u00f3thy<\/strong> won the women’s 200, coming from third at halfway to propel herself into the lead with a 32.95 third 50.<\/p>\n

She came home in 2:08.95 ahead of D\u00f3ra Moln\u00e1r<\/strong> (2:09.82) and Katalin Burian<\/strong> (2:10.19).<\/p>\n

Henrietta Fangli<\/strong> won her second title of the week, adding the 50m breaststroke to the 100 in 31.31 ahead of Sebestyen (31.63) and Anna Sztankovics<\/strong> (31.72).<\/p>\n

Fangli is representing Hungary after switching from Romania and earlier in the week set a national 100br record of 1:07.50, lowering Agnes Kovacs<\/strong>‘ 1:07.79 standard set at Sydney 2000.<\/p>\n

Bernhard Reitshammer<\/strong> of Austria was the first man home in the men’s 50br in 27.32 with Oliver Gal<\/strong> (28.21), David Horvath<\/strong> (28.63) and Janos Mark Eszes<\/strong> (28.69) the first three Hungarians.<\/p>\n

Boglarka Kapas<\/strong> won the 800 free in 8:29.57 ahead of the fast-finishing Ajna K\u00e9sely<\/strong> (8:30.49) – who has already made the Paris QT – and Vivien Jackl,<\/strong> who clocked 8:30.74 a day after her 4:34 European junior record in the 400IM.<\/p>\n

Zalan Sarkany<\/strong> posted 7:57.41 to win the men’s race ahead of Krist\u00f3f Rasovszky<\/strong> (7:58.90) and David Betlehem<\/strong> (7:59.45) with the latter two having already gone within the QT.<\/p>\n
