It\u2019s the second Olympic cut for the 23-year-old, who finished 26th in the 1,500 and 18th in the 800 free at the Tokyo Olympics. Thomas also holds A cuts in the 400 free and 800 free from the 2024 World Aquatics Championships.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn athlete\u2019s dream is the Olympics and to have swum under the qualification time for my second Olympics is an honour,\u201d Thomas <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingnz.org\/post\/three-swimmers-hit-paris-qualifying-times-on-first-day-in-hawke-s-bay\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told Swimming NZ<\/a>. \u201cI went hard from the start tonight and I just hung on, so I\u2019m really pleased that I stuck to my plan.\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/au.swimify.com\/competitions\/2024-apollo-projects-new-zealand-swimming-championships-2024-04-09\/events\/summary\/2\/10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NZ Swimming Championships Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2024-olympic-games-coverage-paris\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2024 Olympic Games Coverage Paris<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The other two Paris qualifications on Tuesday at Hawke\u2019s Bay Regional Aquatic Centre came from paraswimmers. <strong>Jesse Reynolds<\/strong> went 1:05.47 in the multi-class men\u2019s 100 backstroke, hitting the S9 qualification time. Reynolds shared gold with <strong>Jole Watkins,<\/strong> who broke the S19 national record in 1:12.10.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Joshua Willmer<\/strong> added a qualification time in the men\u2019s 100 breaststroke, the 19-year-old\u2019s time of 1:13.94 hitting the SB8 standard.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sam Brown<\/strong> won the men\u2019s 400 IM in 4:22.88, nearly two seconds up on <strong>Blair Helms. Lewis Clareburt<\/strong> didn\u2019t swim in that event.
