{"id":582829,"date":"2024-03-30T07:13:59","date_gmt":"2024-03-30T14:13:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=582829"},"modified":"2024-03-30T08:15:59","modified_gmt":"2024-03-30T15:15:59","slug":"ncaa-mens-championships-day-4-prelims-live-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ncaa-mens-championships-day-4-prelims-live-recap\/","title":{"rendered":"NCAA Men&#8217;s Championships Day 4 Prelims: Crooks, Fallon Set up Anticipated Battles in 100 free, 200 Breast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The final day of the 2024 NCAA Division I Men&#8217;s Swimming and Diving Championships from Indianapolis is upon us.<\/p>\n<p>It has been an extremely fast meet and there is one more day of action.<\/p>\n<p>The day 4 prelims session will consist of the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly before the platform diving prelims, then the early heats of the 1650 freestyle.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/swimmeetresults.tech\/NCAA-Division-I-Men-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Live Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2024-ncaa-mens-championships-psych-sheet\/ncaa-college\/2024\/March\/27?rtn=%2Fresults%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Psych Sheets<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncaa.com\/sports\/swimming-men\/d1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Information Page<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2024-ncaa-division-i-mens-swimming-championships\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NCAA Men\u2019s Division I Championships Coverage<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>NCAA Men&#8217;s 200 Backstroke<\/h2>\n<p>Cal senior<strong> Destin Lasco<\/strong> claimed the top seed in the 200 backstroke, getting to the wall in 1:36.05 to break the pool record set by Ryan Murphy in 2017 (1:36.75).<\/p>\n<p>Lasco, who won the 200 IM earlier in the meet, made the finals in the 100 backstroke as well.<\/p>\n<p>Arizona State sophomore <strong>Hubert Kos<\/strong> took the second seed in 1:37.03 setting up a showdown between members of teams in the national title hunt.<\/p>\n<p>Arizona State had one more in the final with <strong>Owen McDonald<\/strong> taking the seventh seed (1:38.21).<\/p>\n<p>Cal, which for years stacked this event with several in the finals, had no A finalists besides Lasco and will have two in the B final.<\/p>\n<p>Georgia fifth-year <strong>Bradley Dunham<\/strong> took the third spot in 1:37.58.<\/p>\n<p>Florida freshman <strong>Jonny Marshall<\/strong> was fourth (1:37.84), followed by NC State&#8217;s <strong>Kacper Stokowski<\/strong> (1:37.90) and 100 backstroke champion <strong>Brendan Burns<\/strong> of Indiana (1:38.18)<\/p>\n<p>Notre Dame sophomore <strong>Tommy Janton<\/strong> took the final spot in the finals with a 1:38.36.<\/p>\n<pre><b> Event 16  Men 200 Yard Backstroke<\/b>\r\n==================================================================\r\n         NCAA: N 1:35.69  3\/9\/2024  Hubert Kos, ASU\r\n         Meet: M 1:35.73  3\/26\/2016 Ryan Murphy, California\r\n     American: A 1:35.73  3\/26\/2016 Ryan Murphy, California\r\n   U.
