University of St. Thomas Hires Matt Bos as Swim Coach<\/strong><\/p>\n

The University of St. Thomas on Wednesday named Matt Bos<\/strong> its new men\u2019s and women\u2019s swimming and diving head coach.<\/p>\n

Bos has spent more than 20 years coaching, including in Division I at IUPUI and Eastern Illinois.<\/p>\n

“I am deeply grateful to Dr. Esten for entrusting me with the leadership of St. Thomas swimming and diving,” Bos said in a university statement<\/a>. “The Tommies have a storied tradition of excellence in swimming and diving, and I am enthusiastic about preserving this legacy as we continue to navigate the transition into the Division I era. The dedication and motivation of St. Thomas student-athletes is unparalleled, and I am anticipating the opportunity to get to know each and every one of them as we collectively shape the future of Tommie swimming and diving.”<\/p>\n

Bos\u2019s most notable stop was at IUPUI, where he was the head coach from 2011-19<\/a>. The 2013 Summit League Women\u2019s Coach of the Year, he led the Jaguars to a 26th place finish at the 2012 NCAA Championships, the best for a Summit League women\u2019s program.<\/p>\n

Bos joined Concordia-St. Paul in 2020, helping launch its program. He spent three seasons as the head coach of Eastern Illinois, his alma mater. He graduated from EIU in 2000, with a bachelor\u2019s degree in psychology and a master\u2019s in sports management.<\/p>\n

Outside of the college realm, Bos worked as the director and head coach of San Antonio Wave from 2005-08, Wanganui New Zealand Swimming from 2004-05 and Swordfish Swim Team in Illinois in 2003-04. His first job out of college was as an assistant at Trinity University in Texas.<\/p>\n
