Luke Hobson After American Record: \u2018I Think There\u2019s More out There\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

Luke Hobson<\/strong> has been chasing the 200 freestyle NCAA record for his entire collegiate career. He held it for all of about 15 minutes Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

His takeaway from that? Fuel.<\/p>\n

Hobson started a wild opening night of the 2024 NCAA Championships by going 1:29.13 to clip .02 seconds off the 2019 NCAA and American record of Dean Farris <\/strong>in the 200 freestyle<\/a>. The Texas junior will go home with the American mark, but his NCAA mark was dashed two heats later when Leon Marchand<\/strong> led off Arizona State\u2019s 800 free relay<\/a> in 1:28.97.<\/p>\n

It only adds to Hobson\u2019s desire for the rest of the meet.<\/p>\n

\u201cI saw him take it and honestly for me, it\u2019s more motivation,\u201d Hobson said. \u201cOn Friday, I get to do another one and hopefully get under 29. I\u2019m happy with today, but I think there\u2019s more out there.\u201d<\/p>\n
