opening night\u2019s action at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It \u00a0comes just a week after Smith\u2019s 2:03.99 to take the TYR Pro Series in Westmont \u2013 also the fourth fastest time of her career.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are the comparative splits of these two latest swims from the world&#8217;s two best backstrokers &#8211; with just 0.22 between them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Kaylee McKeown:<\/strong> 29.24, 31.93 (<strong>1:01.17);<\/strong> 31.75 and home in 31.29 (1:03.04) &#8211; <strong>2:04.21<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Regan Smith: <\/strong>28.93, 31.45 <strong>(1:00.38); <\/strong>31.91 and home in 32.47 (1:03.61) &#8211; <strong>2:03.99<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">McKeown and Smith share 10 of the fastest 11 times in history \u2013 five each \u2013 with the only other swimmer inside the top 10, the remarkable 2012 Olympic champion Missy Franklin.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0And when push comes to shove there is likely more from where that came from with McKeown also entered in the 50 and 100m backstroke in Toohey<\/strong> from Albury in country NSW has swum the fastest 100m breaststroke time for a 15-year-0ld since Australia&#8217;s greatest female breaststroker Leisel Jones in 2000.<\/p>\n<p>Jones was the find of the 2000 Olympics, with her silver medal in the women&#8217;s 100m breaststroke in 1:07.49 &#8211; with the <strong>Wayne Gould<\/strong>-coached Toohey breaking 1:08 for the first time with her time of 1:07.97 to finish second behind Tokyo Olympian <strong>Jenna Strauch<\/strong> (Miami, QLD) 1:07.83,m. with <strong>Matilda Smith,<\/strong> also Miami third in 1:08.45.<\/p>\n<p>It was Toohey&#8217;s NSW State Open debut after dominating the NSW Country Championships, twice lowering her personal best after clocking 1:08.36 in the heat -quicker again than her 1:08.39 last month at the NSW Country&#8217;s when she was still 14.<\/p>\n<p>Toohey has jumped from the seventh fastest time this season to the fifth fastest Australian in 2023-24 behind,<strong> Kaylee McKeown<\/strong> (1:07.01), Strauch (1:07.30) and both <strong>Matilda Smith<\/strong> and <strong>Ella Ramsay<\/strong> (1:07.64).<\/p>\n<p>The brave youngster wasted no time racing down the first
