She\u2019s one of three swimmers under two minutes to start the action in the first preliminary session at FMC Natatorium.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/2024\/tyr-pro-series-westmont1-live-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Live Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaswimming.org\/event\/2024\/03\/06\/default-calendar\/tyr-pro-swim-series-westmont\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TYR Pro Swim Series Meet Page<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/sandpipers-teammates-claire-weinstein-and-katie-grimes-go-1-2-in-800-freestyle-at-tyr-pro-series-westmont-stop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Night 1 Recap<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/tyr-pro-swim-series-westmont-races-to-watch-jack-alexy-caeleb-dressel-to-clash-in-100-freestyle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Races to Watch<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Women\u2019s 200 freestyle<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Claire Weinstein<\/strong> won the final heat of four in 1:59.08, the top time of the morning. She was .18 seconds ahead of Brazil\u2019s <strong>Maria Fernanda Costa,<\/strong> who went 1:59.26. <strong>Paige Madden<\/strong> (1:59.31) was the only other swimmer under two minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Brazil placed three in the top five, with <strong>Aline Rodriguez<\/strong> fourth and <strong>Nathalia Siqueira Almeida<\/strong> fifth. Americans rounded out the A final, with <strong>Leah Hayes<\/strong> going 2:01.02, 800 free runner-up <strong>Katie Grimes<\/strong> seventh in 2:01.31 and <strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong> in 2:01.39.<\/p>\n<p>The B final includes <strong>Olivia Smoliga<\/strong> in 11th and <strong>Taylor Ruck<\/strong> in 13th. <strong>Penny Oleksiak<\/strong> finished 17th.<\/p>\n<h4>Men\u2019s 200 freestyle<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Gabriel Jett<\/strong> set the top time in the men\u2019s 200 free, leading a parade of recently graduated college swimmers and four under 1:48. Jett clocked in at 1:47.17. Second was Mexican international <strong>Jorge Iga<\/strong> in 1:47.45.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Drew Kibler<\/strong> (1:47.51) and <strong>Kieran Smith<\/strong> (1:47.94) also got under 1:48. <strong>Grant House<\/strong> was fifth, followed by the one-time Georgia duo of <strong>Tomas Koski<\/strong> and <strong>Luca Urlando.<\/strong> The final A final slot went to Brazil\u2019s <strong>Eduardo Oliveira de Moraes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The B final has some names in it, among them Brazilian Olympian <strong>Fernando Scheffer. Blake Pieroni<\/strong> was a spot behind in 13th, ahead of <strong>Trenton Julian, Brooks Curry<\/strong> and <strong>Ryan Held. Destin Lasco<\/strong> was 17th.<\/p>\n<h4>Women\u2019s 100 breaststroke<\/h4>\n<p>Michigan teenager <strong>McKenzie Siroky<\/strong> set a best time in the 100 breast to grab the top seed in 1:07.92. <strong>Lilly King,<\/strong> the runaway favorite in a pretty empty event, was second in 1:08.37. She\u2019s the only swimmers in the field who has been sub-1:07, and that at 1:04. Only three swimmers broke 1:10 in prelims.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Theodora Taylor<\/strong> was the third, the 14-year-old from Wales, who went 1:09.77. There was a tie for eighth between <strong>Jhennifer Conciecao<\/strong> of Brazil and <strong>Ellie Scott.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>Men\u2019s 100 breaststroke<\/h4>\n<p>The vets are in charge of the men\u2019s 100 breast, with only one A finalist born after 2000 \u2013 and that\u2019s a teenager in <strong>Xavier Ruiz,<\/strong> who finished sixth.<\/p>\n<p>Leading the way is <strong>Anton McKee,<\/strong> who went 1:00.91 to secure the top seed by more than a half second. Fellow vet <strong>Will Licon<\/strong> is second in 1:01.48. <strong>Tommy Cope<\/strong> and <strong>Cody Miller<\/strong> also got under 1:02 in prelims. Ruiz was sixth in 1:02.28. <strong>Max McHugh<\/strong> rounds out the A final in eighth.<\/p>\n<h4>Women\u2019s 100 butterfly<\/h4>\n<p>The best race of the night is shaping up in the 100 fly between <strong>Regan Smith<\/strong> and <strong>Torri Huske.<\/strong> Smith won prelims in 57.00, .08 ahead of Huske. Those two are nearly two seconds ahead of the field, and while that gap will close, it might not be by that much.<\/p>\n<p>Third place went to Canadian Olympian <strong>Katerine Savard<\/strong> in 58.90. Harriet Jones was fourth, followed by <strong>Dakota Luther, Beata Nelson<\/strong> and <strong>Leah Shackley<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rhyan White<\/strong> is among the B finalists. <strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong> tied for 16th.<\/p>\n<h4>Men\u2019s 100 butterfly<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> delivered a solid swim in prelims to finish second among a veteran core of swimmers. Dressell went 52.31, .08 seconds behind <strong>Santo Condorelli,<\/strong> who took the top seed in 52.23.<\/p>\n<p>Third is <strong>Zach Harting<\/strong> in 52.50, followed by <strong>Dare Rose<\/strong> in 52.89. <strong>Trenton Julian, Jorge Iga<\/strong> and <strong>Kayky Mota<\/strong> round out the A final, with the final spot to come down to a swim off between <strong>Vili Sivec<\/strong> and <strong>Sebastian Smith.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ryan Held<\/strong> (11th), <strong>Nicholas Albeiro<\/strong> and <strong>Ryan Murphy<\/strong> (tied for 12th) are among the B finalists, while <strong>Thomas Heilman<\/strong> tied for 16th. <strong>Luca Urlando<\/strong> and <strong>Hugo Gonzales<\/strong> were among the scratches.<\/p>\n<h4>Women\u2019s 400 individual medley<\/h4>\n<p>For most swimmers, it was the back end of a double in the 400 IM Thursday morning. <strong>Leah Hayes<\/strong> navigated it best, taking the top seed in 4:44.86. Her fellow 200 free A finalists also got in to a second top eight, with<strong> Katie Grimes<\/strong> just behind her in 4:45.18 and <strong>Claire Weinstein<\/strong> a distant fourth in 4:53.05. In between is Canadian Olympian <strong>Bailey Andison<\/strong> in third in 4:52.50. Only six swimmers broke five minutes in the race.<\/p>\n<h4>Men\u2019s 400 individual medley<\/h4>\n<p><strong>David Johnston,<\/strong> the winner of the 800 free on Wednesday night to open the meet, set the top time in prelims of the 400 IM Thursday. He went 4:24.37, more than a second clear of <strong>Jay Litherland. Noah Cakir<\/strong> is the third seed in 4:26.10.
