It displaces the American mark of 1:21.86, set <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/acc-championships-nc-state-men-blast-american-record-in-200-medley-relay\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">just a half-hour earlier by NC State at the ACC Championships<\/a>. That had downed the mark of 1:21.88 that had held since 2018 in the hands of Cal\u2019s <strong>Daniel Carr, Connor Hoppe, Justin Lynch<\/strong> and <strong>Ryan Hoffer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s an impressive start for the Gators at Auburn University\u2019s James E. Martin Aquatics Center, vying to win the 12th straight title on the men\u2019s side. The foursome of <strong>Aris Runnels, Molly Mayne, Olivia Peoples<\/strong> and <strong>Micayla Cronk<\/strong> went 1:34.25. It\u2019s .07 off the best time of the season but still good for the win. They were .01 off the pool record set by Cal in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Tennessee finished second, with <strong>Josephine Fuller, Mona McSharry, Sara Stotler<\/strong> and <strong>Katie Mack<\/strong> going 1:34.89. Third was Auburn in 1:35.25, followed by Alabama and Georgia. It\u2019s .17 off the SEC meet record, though, that belonging to Tennessee last year.<\/p>\n<p>The Volunteers were second this time around in 1:21.82. <strong>Bjorn Kammann, Flynn Crisci, Jordan Crooks<\/strong> and <strong>Gui Caribe<\/strong> comprised that squad, only Crisci not on last year\u2019s record-setters. Auburn finished third in 1:22.74, while Georgia and Missouri followed in 1:23-lows to get under the 1:23.71 A cut. The senior scored 403.05 points. It\u2019s the second time he\u2019s won conference gold and his third medal overall. Povzner scored 375.50 to win the event last year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rhett Hensley<\/strong> went from eighth in prelims to a career-best 381.60 to earn silver. Teammate <strong>Takuto Endo<\/strong> was fourth for the second straight year. It\u2019s the Mexican grad student\u2019s second career conference gold. She\u2019s qualified for NCAAs five times in her storied career. She needed to outbattle a freshman for this one, though, Monroy staying close and scoring 357.60.<\/p>\n<p>Third place was <strong>Kamryn Wong<\/strong> of Missouri with a score of 348.85 points. Gutierrez\u2019s teammate, <strong>Helle Tuxen,<\/strong> was fifth. It\u2019s a meet record by nearly three seconds (6:52.54, from Georgia in 2013). It\u2019s a conference record by more than two seconds (2016 Georgia\u2019s 6:51.80). It\u2019s more than seven seconds quicker than the 6:57.11 that the Gators used to win last year, with Weyant and Cronk. Florida had a team (Ivey, Sims, Cronk and <strong>Ekaterina Nikonova<\/strong>) trim the program record from 2013 to 6:56.49 last year. This one is 6.98 seconds quicker than the old mark!<\/p>\n<p>Sims started it off by blasting the conference record in the 200 free. She went 1:40.90, downing the record set in 2012 by <strong>Megan Romano<\/strong> of Georgia at 1:41.21. Sims entered as the second seed in that individual event, which will be contested Thursday. Her season-best of 1:43.04 was .01 behind Ivey, who went 1:42.19 on the second leg to open up the lead. Both are under the winning time of the 200 free last year, by <strong>Brooklyn Douthwright<\/strong> of Tennessee in 1:42.64.<\/p>\n<p>Tennessee finished second, Douthwright leading off in 1:43.06. She was joined by <strong>Camille Spink<\/strong> (1:41.56), <strong>Julia Mrozinski<\/strong> and <strong>Josephine Fuller<\/strong> to go 6:53.43.<\/p>\n<p>Georgia (6:57.10) and Texas A&amp;M (6:59.96) added NCAA A cuts. <strong>Chloe Stepanek\u2019s<\/strong> 1:42.87 off the front for the Aggies makes her a medal contender in the 200 free.<\/p>\n<pre><b>Event 7  Women 800 Yard Freestyle Relay<\/b>\r\n==================================================================================\r\n         NCAA: N 6:45.91  3\/16\/2017 Stanford\r\n                          S. a little more drama. <strong>Jake Mitchell<\/strong> outsplit Georgia\u2019s <strong>Bradley Dunham<\/strong> coming home as Florida lowered the SEC meet record with a time of 6:06.36 to win by .43 ticks over the Bulldogs.<\/p>\n<p>Florida\u2019s <strong>Macguire McDuff<\/strong> (1:31.62), <strong>Josh Liendo<\/strong> (1:31.45), <strong>Julian Smith<\/strong> (1:32.10) and Mitchell (1:31.19) downed the meet mark of 6:08.00 set by the Gators in 2022. They also downed an Auburn pool record the Gators had set in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>This one was a battle. Georgia went 6:06.79. <strong>Thomas Koski<\/strong> had them behind after the first leg at 1:32.12, but <strong>Jake Magahey\u2019s<\/strong> 1:30.96 nudged them into the lead. <strong>Zach Hils<\/strong> followed with a 1:32.23, and Dunham applied pressure at 1:31.48, but it was shy of the win.<\/p>\n<p>Auburn was third in 6:11.03.
