USA 11th In 4&#215;200 Free"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>World Championships, Day 5 Prelims (Women): Kate Douglass Through In Two; USA 11th In 4&#215;200 Free<\/h4>\n<p>The fifth day of prelims got under way at the <strong>World Championships<\/strong> with the likes of<b> Siobhan Haughey <\/b>and<b> Kate Douglass <\/b>set to feature<b>.<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2024-world-aquatics-championships-doha\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2024 World Championships Meet Home<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/2024\/world-aquatics-championships-swm-live-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2024 World Championships \u2013 Omega Results<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100m Freestyle<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> was on the start lists but come the eighth prelim and the world record-holder was absent from lane four.<\/p>\n<p>While <strong>Mollie O&#8217;Callaghan<\/strong> &#8211; winner of the 100\/200 double at the <strong>2023 World Championships<\/strong> &#8211; isn&#8217;t in Doha, silver and bronze medallists Haughey and <strong>Marrit Steenbergen<\/strong> took to the blocks on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shayna Jack<\/strong>, who finished seventh in the 200 free on Wednesday evening, led the way in the first seeded heat in 53.50 which proved to be the swiftest qualifying time.<\/p>\n<p>Steenbergen went 53.66 to win the next heat with Haughey &#8211; silver and bronze medallists in Fukuoka &#8211; are both competing.<\/p>\n<p>Douglass <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kate-douglass-sets-american-u-s-open-marks-in-200-breast\/\">went 2:19.30<\/a> to lower <strong>Rebecca Soni&#8217;s<\/strong> American record in January, a mark that had stood since 2012, and is the clear favourite for the title.<\/p>\n<p>She went clear in the final stages of the last heat to lead the way into the semis in 2:24.15 with <strong>Mona McSharry<\/strong> &#8211;
