Arizona State\u2019s No. 1 men\u2019s team had no trouble in a 227-73 victory over the 23rd-ranked Wildcats.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/thesundevils.com\/documents\/2024\/2\/10\/results__3_.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/pac-12-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pac-12 Swimming News<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Looney went 1:53.44 in the 200 fly to win by nearly 4.5 seconds, over teammate <strong>Jade Foelske.<\/strong> She won a tight race in the 100 fly, going 53.57 to edge Arizona\u2019s <strong>Maddy Burt<\/strong> by .15 seconds (with Foelske third). It\u2019s the fourth time this season that the U.S. national teamer has swept the butterfly events in a dual meet.<\/p>\n<p>Looney also took part in the Sun Devils\u2019 winning 400 free relay, teaming with <strong>Erin Milligan, Ieva Maluka <\/strong>and <strong>Elli Straume<\/strong> to go 3:16.21 and win.<\/p>\n<p>Arizona kept the meet close in the front half of the meet, winning five of the first nine events. But Arizona State overwhelmed them late.<\/p>\n<p>The first strike was the 200 breaststroke, a podium sweep. <strong>Emma Gehlert<\/strong> won in 2:10.11, ahead of <strong>Zoe Summar. Deniz Ertan<\/strong> doubled up on distance wins, going 4:47.28 to win the 500 free in addition to her 1,000 free win. <strong>Alexa Reyna<\/strong> was the runner-up in both, and Straume was third in the 500 free. Then came Looney\u2019s win in the 100 fly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Charli Brown<\/strong> added the exclamation point with her third win of the day. She swept the backstroke events, in 53.09 ahead of <strong>Katrina Marty<\/strong> in the 100 and 1:55.57 in the 200 in a 1-2 with <strong>Hana Edwards.<\/strong> She added the win in the 200 individual medley in 1:58.18, Summar following her to the wall.<\/p>\n<p>Summar was also second in the 100 breast, with Gehlert second. Maluka was the 200 free and 100 free runners-up. Milligan was second in the 50 free and third in the 100 free.<\/p>\n<p>Arizona started the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in 1:37.20, .55 over Arizona State\u2019s A squad. On that foursome was <strong>Julia Heimstead,<\/strong> who went 1:44.73 to win the 200 free. Anchoring the relay was <strong>Julia Wozniak,<\/strong> whose 22.48 in the 50 free won the event. Heimstead won the 100 free in 48.73.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eleni Gewalt<\/strong> won the 100 breast for Arizona, a race in which four swimmers were separated by .51 seconds and the top seven were one grouped within a second. <strong>Brooke Earley<\/strong> topped 300 points on both diving boards to win, topping out at 341.63 on 3-meter.<\/p>\n<p>The Arizona State men\u2019s dominance was epitomized by the 50 free, six Sun Devils breaking 20 seconds. <strong>Jack Dolan<\/strong> won the event in 19.23, followed by <strong>Jonny Kulow<\/strong> (19.47), <strong>Ilya Kharun<\/strong> (19.56) and <strong>Cam Peel<\/strong> (19.65). Dolan edged Kharun by .01 in 42.17 seconds in the 100 free.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leon Marchand<\/strong> did his usual bit, sweeping fly. He went 1:39.62 to win the 200 to win by more than three seconds . In the 100, his time of 44.67 led <strong>Hubert Kos,<\/strong> who went 46.37. Marchand was on the second-place 200 medley relay, the Sun Devils splitting forces. (The win went to Kos, <strong>John Heaphy,<\/strong> Khaurn and Peel.) Marchand also led off the 400 free relay in 41.39, but his squad was second to Kulow, Kharun, <strong>Tiago Behar<\/strong> and Dolan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Julian Hill<\/strong> won the 200 free and 500 free (though Behar had the fastest time of the 200 free final with an exhibitioned 1:32.91). <strong>Zalan Sarkany<\/strong> led the way in the 1,000 free. <strong>David Schlicht<\/strong> swept breaststroke. Backstroke was divvied up between <strong>Jack Wadsworth<\/strong> in the 100 and <strong>Owen McDonald<\/strong> in the 200, with Wadsworth the runner-up.<\/p>\n<p>Arizona\u2019s only wins came from <strong>Gage Dubois,<\/strong> who swept diving.
