Photo Courtesy Rob Woodhouse Collection.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Woodhouse, who has been based in the UK, will take over the reigns of Swimming Australia in time for the final countdown to the 2024 Paris Olympics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>It is a major boost for the sport and his appointment will be greeted with open arms from all corners of the pool deck and the corridors of power.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>A man who is passionate about the sport, who has \u201cbeen there done that\u201d as a swimmer who went on to manage some of the biggest names in the business and also played a key role in the International Swimming League (ISL).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Woodhouse paved the way in athlete management when he formed Elite Sports Property (ESP- TLA Worldwide) with ex-AFL star Craig Kelly in 1996 in the lead up to the Sydney Olympics &#8211; providing sponsorship and media pathways for athletes such as <b>Susie O\u2019Neill, Michael Klim<\/b> and <b>Shane Gould<\/b> and who in recent times has guided the careers of <b>Emma McKeon<\/b> and <b>Adam Peaty<\/b> \u2013 amongst a bevy of stars.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>(Just last year, the highly respected Kelly, was appointed CEO of his beloved Collingwood \u2013 with the Magpies winning the 2024 premiership.)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>On the road to Sydney 2000, Woodhouse and his team played key roles in growing the ESP business through his vast experience as one of Australia\u2019s best international swimmers &#8211; a dual Olympian in 1984 and 1988 who won\u00a0<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>bronze behind Canada\u2019s Alex Baumann in the \u201884 LA Games.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>(Woodhouse is following Baumann into the chair as a CEO of Swimming Australia &#8211; a role he filled briefly in 2021.)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>In the 1990s it was Woodhouse\u2019s nous, forward thinking, connections, and his ability that build relationships with Swimming Australia, it\u2019s marketing and media team, sponsors and his athletes for the betterment of all parties.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>It was Woodhouse who put together a personal deal for O\u2019Neill with three of Swimming Australia\u2019s sponsors &#8211; Qantas, Speedo and Telstra which revolutionised personal and National Federation sponsors.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>It came after a tumultuous period where several of Australia\u2019s leading swimmers, like O\u2019Neill and Kieren Perkins were at loggerheads with the governing body over conflicting sponsorship deals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>It was Woodhouse who broke down barriers along the way with smart negotiating and planning to forge \u201cwin, win\u201d\u00a0<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>situations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>At the same time Woodhouse also played a key role in the media as a long time commentator for ABC radio at Olympic and Commonwealth Games and World and Australian Championships.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Working alongside the likes of <b>Mike McCann, Norman May, Gerry Collins<\/b> \u00a0and <b>Clint Wheeldon <\/b>and providing his expert analysis.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Woodhouse\u2019s appointment will provide Swimming Australia with not only a man who is passionate about swimming but a shrewd operator and businessman who understands swimmers, coaches, officials and the commercial aspects of a sport that will now revel in his leadership.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div id=\"attachment_577213\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-577213\" data-attachment-id=\"577213\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/swimming-australia-lands-a-major-coup-with-rob-woodhouse-appointed-new-ceo\/298954578_5479042745486825_7939193248950830078_n\/\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/298954578_5479042745486825_7939193248950830078_n.jpg\" data-orig-size=\"1820,1024\" data-comments-opened=\"1\" data-image-meta=\"{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}\" data-image-title=\"Rob Woodhouse English Channel\" data-image-description=\"\" data-image-caption=\"&lt;p&gt;ENGLISH CHANNEL CONQUERER: Rob Woodhouse conquers the Channel.
