They had no issue repeating on Sunday, in the only medal event of the third day of competition. Marsaglia and Tocci scored 384.24, less than a point ahead of Spain\u2019s <strong>Adrian Abadia<\/strong> and <strong>Nicolas Garcia Boissier.<\/strong> They scored 383.28, .09 points above Spain\u2019s <strong>Rodrigo Diego Lopez<\/strong> and 1-meter champ <strong>Osmar Olvera.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Long and Wang were first just about the entire way. They delivered the top dive of each round save for the second. Only six dives in the entire competition topped 80 points, and the Chinese duo had four of them.<\/p>\n<p>But they weren\u2019t perfect. Their second-round dive, a 301B, was the 13th best of the round, yielding just 43.20 points. It dropped China to third briefly. But 86.70 points in the third round moved them to the lead by 3.60 points, and the lead only build from there.<\/p>\n<p>Marsaglia and Tocci also struggled early, tied for 11th after two rounds. But they steadily improved, with the second-best dive of the fourth round, getting 80.58 points from their 5154B to go third, then leapt into second in the fifth round.<\/p>\n<p>Abadia and Gracia were 10th after one round and only jumped into third place on the final dive. They produced the third best dive of the final round at 78.54 points to bump up a place from fourth.<\/p>\n<p>The door was left open by a late slip by Great Britain\u2019s <strong>Anthony Harding<\/strong> and <strong>Jack Laugher.<\/strong> They were the ones that led after two rounds when the Chinese faltered and were second through four rounds. But their fifth-round dive was only the 15th-best of the round, sliding them to third. And they scored only 63.18 points in the final round, 11th best of the field, to plunge off the podium.<\/p>\n<p>Behind Great Britain was Ukraine in second. The American duo of <strong>Andrew Capobianco<\/strong> and <strong>Quinn Henninger<\/strong> were ninth.<\/p>\n<p>The only other event of the day was prelims of women\u2019s 10-meter platform, with Chinese divers qualifying 1-2. <strong>Chen Yuxi<\/strong> led the field ahead of <strong>Quan Hongchan.<\/strong> Third was Great Britain\u2019s <strong>Andrea Spendolini Sirieix.<\/strong> Neither American made the final, <strong>Katrina Young<\/strong> 20th and <strong>Daryn Wright<\/strong> 24th.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>World Aquatics Championships: Long Daoyi, Wang Zongyuan Repeat in 3M Synchro Long Daoyi and Wang Zongyuan repeated as 3-meter men\u2019s synchro champions at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships Sunday.
