{"id":577003,"date":"2024-02-04T10:56:02","date_gmt":"2024-02-04T17:56:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=577003"},"modified":"2024-02-04T11:00:24","modified_gmt":"2024-02-04T18:00:24","slug":"ohio-state-men-and-women-stay-unbeaten-in-sweep-of-pitt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ohio-state-men-and-women-stay-unbeaten-in-sweep-of-pitt\/","title":{"rendered":"Ohio State Men and Women Stay Unbeaten in Sweep of Pitt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ohio State Men and Women Stay Unbeaten in Sweep of Pitt<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Ohio State men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams both remained unbeaten with a senior day sweep of Pitt on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s team moved to 6-0 with a 202-97 decision, while the me are 5-0 thanks to a 179-121 victory.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sidearmstats.com\/ohiostate\/swim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/big-ten-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Big Ten Swimming<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/acc-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ACC Swimming<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Buckeyes put down an early and needed marker on the men\u2019s side with 1-2-3 results in both the 1,000 free and 200 free. <strong>Charlie Clark<\/strong> led the former in 9:06.06, followed by <strong>Alex Metzler<\/strong> win in 1:37.52. <strong>Mason Edmund,<\/strong> the 1,000 free runner-up, led a 1-2 in the 500 free with 200 free runner-up <strong>Alex Axon.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Clay Chaplin<\/strong> won both diving events, scoring 419.63 on 3-meter and 384.53 on 1-meter. <strong>Chachi Gustafson<\/strong> won the 200 butterfly and was second to teammate <strong>JP Khouzam<\/strong> in the 100. <strong>Tristan Jankovics<\/strong> won the 200 backstroke and was the 200 IM runner-up, a spot ahead of Metzler. <strong>Daniel Baltes<\/strong> went 20.10 to win the 50 free.<\/p>\n<p>Pitt more than held its own, thanks largely to the breaststroke prowess of <strong>Jerry Chen.<\/strong> He teamed with <strong>Krzysztof Radziszewski, Dominic Toledo<\/strong> and <strong>Stepan Goncharov<\/strong> to win the 200 medley relay. Chen went 54.80 to edge OSU\u2019s <strong>Billy Regan<\/strong> by .03 in the 100 breast, then denied Regan by two tenths in the 200 breast in 1:58.67.<\/p>\n<p>Radziszewski and Goncharov went 1-2 in the 100 back, the former winning in 47.88. Goncharov stormed to the win in the 100 free in 44.02, and <strong>Max Matteazzi<\/strong> went 1:44.30 to claim the 200 IM.<\/p>\n<p>The Ohio State women\u2019s win was more comprehensive, winning 14 of 16 events. <strong>Katherine Zenick<\/strong> swept the sprints, winning the 50 free in 22.62 seconds the 100 free in 50.11. <strong>Amy Fulmer<\/strong> won the 500 free in 4:55.86 and led off victorious 200 medley and 400 free relays. <strong>Hannah Bach<\/strong> was on both of those relays to go with gold in the 100 breast. <strong>Josie Panitz<\/strong> claimed the 200 breast. <strong>Janie Boyle<\/strong> swept diving, scoring 337.95 on 3-meter.<\/p>\n<p>Pitt\u2019s <strong>Sydney Gring<\/strong> was the Panthers\u2019 best performer on the day, rewarded with a win in the 200 IM in 2:03.34.
