{"id":576961,"date":"2024-02-03T19:35:19","date_gmt":"2024-02-04T02:35:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=576961"},"modified":"2024-02-03T19:35:19","modified_gmt":"2024-02-04T02:35:19","slug":"georgia-finishes-dual-meet-season-with-win-against-emory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/georgia-finishes-dual-meet-season-with-win-against-emory\/","title":{"rendered":"Georgia Finishes Dual Meet Season With Win Against Emory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Georgia Finishes Dual Meet Season With Win Against Emory<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Georgia swimming and diving teams welcomed Division III power Emory to Athens Saturday for a final dual meet of the 2023-24 season and emerged with two victories, the Bulldog women defeating the Eagles 189-101 while the men won 181-90.<\/p>\n<p>The women kicked off the meet with\u00a0<strong>Millie Sansome<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Zoie Hartman<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Olivia Smith<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Jillian Barczyk<\/strong> winning the 200 medley relay in 1:41.84 before\u00a0<strong>Shea Furse<\/strong> topped the 1650 freestyle in 16:37.49. Hartman claimed a win in the 200 free (1:47.15), and\u00a0<strong>Eboni McCarty<\/strong> got to the wall first in the 100 backstroke (54.25), followed by\u00a0<strong>Elizabeth Isakson<\/strong> winning the 100 breaststroke (1:03.80).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Julianna Stephens<\/strong> captured first in the 50 free (22.86), while Hartman got her second win of the day in the 100 free (50.24).\u00a0<strong>Helena Jones<\/strong> was the only swimmer to break 2:00 in the 200 back (1:58.80), and\u00a0<strong>Olivia Dellatorre<\/strong> won the 200 breast (2:17.83).\u00a0<strong>Abby McCulloh<\/strong> continued her strong season in the longer freestyle races with a win in the 500 free (4:46.89), and Smith came out on top in the 100 fly (55.80).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michelle Cummo<\/strong> finished first in 3-meter diving (296.70) while teammate\u00a0<strong>Meghan Wenzel<\/strong> won on 1-meter (318.98).\u00a0<strong>Sloane Reinstein<\/strong> easily won the 200 IM for the Bulldogs in 2:03.78, and McCarty, Jones,\u00a0<strong>Bri Roberson<\/strong> and Stephens secured a 1:31.33 victory in the 200 free relay.<\/p>\n<p>Emory got its only win when <strong>Sarah Daly<\/strong> overtook the Bulldogs&#8217;\u00a0McCulloh down the back end of the 200 butterfly, with Daly coming in eight tenths ahead at 2:02.83.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/category\/college\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">More college swimming news<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Georgia men opened with a 200 medley relay win courtesy of\u00a0<strong>Wesley Ng<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Connor Haigh<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Miles Simon<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Jake Magahey<\/strong>, with the mid-distance standout impressing with his 19.52 anchor split on the way to a final time of 1:26.23. Magahey also clocked a swift mark of 1:32.80 to win the 200 free. <strong>Tristan Denbrok<\/strong> got the win in the 1650 free (15:28.78), and\u00a0<strong>Aaron Seymour<\/strong> won a tight 100 back (46.85).<\/p>\n<p>Simon came from behind to touch out Emory&#8217;s <strong>Jake Meyer<\/strong> to win the 100 breast, 54.03 to 54.08, and\u00a0<strong>Bradley Dunham<\/strong> dominated the 200 fly (1:44.95).
