{"id":576689,"date":"2024-01-29T12:01:16","date_gmt":"2024-01-29T19:01:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=576689"},"modified":"2024-01-29T12:01:16","modified_gmt":"2024-01-29T19:01:16","slug":"olympic-prediction-united-states-forecasted-for-biggest-medal-haul-in-paris","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/olympic-prediction-united-states-forecasted-for-biggest-medal-haul-in-paris\/","title":{"rendered":"Olympic Prediction: United States Forecasted For Biggest Medal Haul in Paris"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Olympic Prediction: United States Forecasted For Biggest Medal Haul in Paris<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Predictions have begun to roll in for the 2024 Paris Olympics and the United States is predicted to top the medals table, according to Nielsen&#8217;s Gracenote Sports.<\/p>\n<p>The organization is a statistics and analysis organization that works for sports leagues around the world and tracks major competitions involving the Olympic sports, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/olympic-medal-table-paris-united-states-china-7181a1eb7e69a26a3aaeb6006295b313\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an Associated Press report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Most Olympic athletes from Russia and Belarus are excluded from the forecast because of Russia&#8217;s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlmost all Russian and Belarussian competitors have been absent from international competitions since February 2022,\u201d Gracenote head <strong>Simon Gleave<\/strong>\u00a0told The Associated Press. \u201cAny who take part in Paris 2024\u201d will make predicting difficult.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, Gracenote predicts the United States will win 37 gold medals and 129 overall. China is a close second with 35 gold, but far behind in the overall total of 85.
