Nebraska Women Take Down Illinois as Genevieve Jorgenson Shines<\/strong><\/p>\n

A showdown between a pair of Big Ten schools with women’s-only swimming and diving teams went the way of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, with this group finishing clear of Illinois by a margin of 169-to-131.<\/p>\n

Nebraska’s\u00a0Genevieve Jorgenson<\/strong> bested the field in the 1000 freestyle by a whopping 23 seconds, coming in at 9:41.68. Jorgenson later dominated the 500 free with a time of 4:49.04. Jojo Randby\u00a0<\/strong>was the winner of the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.43 before\u00a0Anastasia Tichy<\/strong> led a 1-2-3 finish for Nebraska in the 200 butterfly, with Tichy’s time of 1:59.22 the only mark under 2:00.\u00a0Sarah Barton<\/strong> topped the 200 backstroke (1:59.15)<\/p>\n

Beatrix Tanko<\/strong> won the 100 fly for Nebraska in 53.98, and Nebraska’s\u00a0Abigail Baxter<\/strong> finished first in 3-meter diving (331.65) and 1-meter diving (296.18). The Nebraska team of Emily Haimes<\/strong>,\u00a0Giulia Marchi<\/strong>, Tanko and Jorgenson closed out the meet with a victory in the 400 free relay, with the Cornhuskers coming in at 3:23.73.<\/p>\n
