{"id":576583,"date":"2024-01-27T11:43:15","date_gmt":"2024-01-27T18:43:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=576583"},"modified":"2024-01-27T11:43:15","modified_gmt":"2024-01-27T18:43:15","slug":"antonio-silva-re-elected-as-president-of-european-aquatics-with-unanimous-vote-in-athens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/antonio-silva-re-elected-as-president-of-european-aquatics-with-unanimous-vote-in-athens\/","title":{"rendered":"Antonio Silva Re-Elected As President Of European Aquatics With Unanimous Vote In Athens"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Antonio Silva Re-Elected As President Of European Aquatics With Unanimous Vote In Athens<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Antonio Silva<\/strong> was re-elected as President of <strong>European Aquatics<\/strong> following a unanimous vote at the <strong>Elective<\/strong> <strong>Congress<\/strong> in Athens.<\/p>\n<p>It came two weeks after the governing body <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/european-aquatics-finds-no-breach-of-its-rules-following-ethics-complaint\/\">found there had been no breach of its rules<\/a> following an ethics complaint against Silva.<\/p>\n<p>The Portuguese said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI\u2019m very proud of the team we have built here at European Aquatics over the past two years and today\u2019s unanimous decisions show a collective commitment to advancing aquatics sports and fostering cooperation within the European and global aquatics community.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is not a one man show but a movement that want to work hard together for the benefit of Aquatic sports in Europe and worldwide. With this renewed mandate we are now poised to embark on a new chapter of growth, innovation, and inclusivity.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Also re-elected were <strong>Josip Varvodic<\/strong> (CRO) as First Vice President, <strong>Andida Bouma<\/strong> (NED) as Treasurer, and <strong>Noam Zwi<\/strong> (ISR) as General Secretary.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the Elective Congress saw the election of six Vice Presidents who will serve alongside the President and Officers for the next four years.<\/p>\n<p>The newly-elected Vice Presidents include <strong>Kyriakos Giannopoulos<\/strong> (GRE), <strong>Christer Magnusson<\/strong> (SWE), <strong>Vania Udovicic<\/strong> (SRB), <strong>Gilles Sezionale<\/strong> (FRA), <strong>Marco Troll<\/strong> (GER), and<strong> Erkan Yalcin<\/strong> (TUR).<\/p>\n<p>The bureau members for the term 2024-2028 were also elected, comprising <strong>Ewen Cameron<\/strong> (SUI), <strong>Fernando Carpena<\/strong> (ESP), <strong>Rokur I Jakuppstovu<\/strong> (FRO), <strong>Pia Johansen<\/strong> (SWE), <strong>Graeme Marchbank<\/strong> (GBR), <strong>Norbert Madaras<\/strong> (HUN), <strong>Milos Mracevic<\/strong> (MNE), <strong>Arno Pajek<\/strong> (AUT), and <strong>Camelia Alina Potec<\/strong> (ROU).<\/p>\n<p>In a further demonstration of the organization&#8217;s global perspective, the membership also elected <strong>Kyriakos Giannopoulos<\/strong>, <strong>Sarah Keane<\/strong> (IRL), <strong>Otylia Jedzrejczak<\/strong> (POL), and Varvodic to serve as <strong>World Aquatics<\/strong> bureau representatives (starting in 2025), reinforcing European Aquatics&#8217; presence and influence on the international stage.<\/p>\n<p>This team will now steer European Aquatics until 2028. Their re-election underscores the confidence and support of the membership in their vision and capabilities to lead the organization through the upcoming years.<\/p>\n<p>Forty-six National Federations took part in the Congress \u2013 90% of the membership &#8211; which was also attended by the President of World Aquatics, <strong>Captain Husain Al Musallam<\/strong> and the President of the European Olympic Committees and the Hellenic Olympic Committee <strong>Spyros Capralos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In another historic decision, Congress elected a new <strong>European Aquatics Integrity Unit<\/strong> consisting of a Council and an Adjudicatory body.<\/p>\n<p>The elected council chair is <strong>Ashley Dominic Cox<\/strong> (GBR) and members are: <strong>Pia Zatterstrom<\/strong> (SWE) and <strong>David Szanto<\/strong> (HUN).<\/p>\n<p>The elected chair of the Adjudicatory body is <strong>Isabelle Fellrath<\/strong> (SUI) and its members are: <strong>Enric Bertran<\/strong> (ESP), <strong>Vehovec Rok<\/strong> (SLO), <strong>Joost Richard Berculo<\/strong> (NED) and <strong>Amichay Weinberger<\/strong> (ISR).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Antonio
