NBAC&#8217;s Chase Kalisz posted a sub-1:10 breaststroke split en route to fifth in the world in the men&#8217;s 400-meter IM at the Arena Grand Prix in Santa Clara.<\/p>\n<p>Kalisz, who was even with the field at the 200, smashed everyone with a sizzling breaststroke split to move to fifth in the world with a 4:11.71 for a five-second triumph. His performance tonight is the second-best in his career, bettering the 4:11.83 he used to win Nationals last year. His best time ever is a 4:09.22 from the World Championships last summer.<\/p>\n<p>Gators&#8217; Sebastien Rousseau wound up taking second in 4:17.49, while Dynamo&#8217;s Jay Litherland snared third in 4:18.29 to round out the podium-placers.<\/p>\n<p>Dan Wallace (4:18.84), Dynamo&#8217;s Gunnar Bentz (4:19.03), Aquazot&#8217;s Corey Okubo (4:19.36), Stanford&#8217;s Max Williamson (4:21.10), Club Wolverine&#8217;s Kyle Whitaker (4:26.52) and Gators&#8217; Diago Decarvalho (4:27.96) put up the rest of the times in the A final.<\/p>\n<p>NBAC&#8217;s Ous Mellouli pulled off some outside smoke in the B final with a 4:19.13 to win from lane 9. Wisconsin&#8217;s Michael Weiss claimed second in 4:22.42 with Matt Elliott placing third in 4:25.23.<\/p>\n<p>John Martens (4:27.36), Nitro&#8217;s Sean Grieshop (4:27.47), California&#8217;s Adam Hinshaw (4:29.05), Jakub Maly (4:29.89), Canada&#8217;s William Brothers (4:31.66) and PASA&#8217;s Curtis Ogren (4:32.31) also swam in the consolation heat.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Arena Grand Prix &#8211; Santa Clara editorial coverage is proudly sponsored by Arena USA.
