Anna Peplowski, Brendan Burns Lead Indiana Over Michigan<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a Big Ten showdown in Ann Arbor, Mich., the Indiana women knocked off the Michigan Wolverines by just four points in a dual meet that came down to the final event. Anna Peplowski<\/strong> was they key swimmer for the Hoosier women in the triumph, as Peplowski had two individual wins plus one relay first-place finish as Indiana won 152-148. Meanwhile, multi-time NCAA champion\u00a0Brendan Burns<\/strong> had four wins overall, three in individual events, as Indiana’s men cruised to a 182-118 victory.<\/p>\n

Ching Hwee Gan<\/strong> opened the meet for the Hoosiers with a win in the 1000 freestyle (9:47.37) before\u00a0Peplowski led the way in the 200 free (1:45.14) and 200 backstroke (1:56.46). Brearna Crawford<\/strong> took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.16) and 200 breaststroke (2:14.91), and Kristina Paegle<\/strong> was victorious in the 50 free with a mark of 22.46<\/p>\n

In diving, Anne Fowler<\/strong> finished first on the 1-meter (323.85) and 3-meter (353.78) boards, but the meet was not secure until Peplowski, Ashley Turak<\/strong>, Paegle and\u00a0Ella Ristic<\/strong> won the 400 free relay in 3:16.68.<\/p>\n

Michigan’s women captured the 200 medley relay in 1:38.35, largely thanks to\u00a0Brady Kendall<\/strong> splitting 23.14 on the butterfly leg.\u00a0Casey Chung<\/strong>,\u00a0Natalie Kan<\/strong> and\u00a0Lindsay Flynn<\/strong> also swam for the Wolverines. Chung later won the 100 back (54.07), and\u00a0Hanneh Bellard<\/strong> won the 200 butterfly (1:58.84). Stephanie Balduccini<\/strong> grabbed first in the 100 free (48.49) and 200 IM (2:00.70). Katie Crom<\/strong> went 4:47.73 for a win in the 500 free before Kendall led the way in the 100 fly (53.25).<\/p>\n
