The men won by a 170-90 score, while the women claimed a 162-97 decision.<\/p>\n<p>Ramadan led off the Hokies\u2019 400 medley relay in 45.57, combining on the win with <strong>Carles Coll Marti, Mario Molla Yanes<\/strong> and <strong>Brendan Whitfield<\/strong> in a time of 3:07.15. He went 42.37 in the 100 freestyle to outduel Queens\u2019 50 free chap <strong>Matej Dusa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/acc-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ACC Swimming News<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/queensathletics.com\/documents\/2024\/1\/5\/VTQueensScore152023.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Results<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ramadan returned for his bread and butter, going 45.86 to win the 100 butterfly. The reigning NCAA champ helped Va Tech sweep the podium in that event, <strong>William Hayon, Tanish George Mathew<\/strong> and Molla Yanes following.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Luis Dominguez Calonge<\/strong> took home a pair of victories. \u00a0He went 1:35.64 in the 200 free, leading Whitfield to the wall. He also clocked in at 4:25.67 to dominate the 500 free. <strong>Lee Naber,<\/strong> the 1,000 free winner, was second.<\/p>\n<p>Coll Marti won the 200 breaststroke. Va Tech swept backstroke via <strong>Gabriel Yuk<\/strong> in the 100 and <strong>Nico Garcia<\/strong> in the 200. <strong>Ethan Maloney<\/strong> and <strong>AJ Pouch<\/strong> went 1-2 in the 100 breast.<\/p>\n<p>Virginia Tech didn\u2019t have it all their way. Dura edged Coll Marti in the 50 with a time of 19.47 seconds, then finished second in the 100 in 42.75. <strong>Frantisek Jablcnik<\/strong> finished first in the 400 individual medley in 3:54.78. <strong>Andreas Marz<\/strong> was the runner up in both backstroke swims.<\/p>\n<p>The Hokies won the first three women\u2019s races and never looked back. <strong>Chase Travis<\/strong> won the 1,000 free in 9:46.67, followed by <strong>Emma Atkinson\u2019s<\/strong> winning time of 1:48.90 in the 200 free. Travis would return to win the 500 free with Atkinson second.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carmen Weiler Sastre<\/strong> anchored Va Tech\u2019s winning 400 medley relay, then swept the backstroke events. She went 53.49 to win the 100 and 1:56.68 to claim the 200 with ease. There was no stopping <strong>Caroline Bentz<\/strong> in the sprints, winning the 100 in 49.65 and the 50 in 22.64. Bentz had led off the victorious medley quartet, with <strong>Charlotte Rigg<\/strong> and <strong>Emily Claesson<\/strong> following.<\/p>\n<p>Queens kept things close with, with breaststroke doing the most damage. <strong>Libby Livesay<\/strong> went 1:03.77 to win the 100 in a 1-2 result with <strong>Sarah Brown,<\/strong> whose 2:17.10 won the 200. <strong>Madeline Foster<\/strong> finished in 53.99 seconds to edge Claesson to the 100 fly win. <strong>Danielle Melilli<\/strong> was second in both sprint events for Queens.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Youssef Ramadan Wins Twice as Virginia Tech Handles Queens Youssef Ramadan won a pair of races as Virginia Tech swept Queens.
