James Guy Nominated For Athletes’ Athlete Of The Month Following Return To 200 Free Podium<\/h4>\n
Two-time Olympic relay champion James Guy<\/strong> has been nominated for the British Elite Athletes Association’s<\/strong> Athletes’ Athlete<\/strong> of the month for December.<\/p>\n
The 28-year-old – who has won five medals across two Games – was nominated following the European Short-Course Championships<\/strong> in December where he won silver in the 200 free<\/a> behind British teammate Matt Richards<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
It was the first time Guy had made a 200 free podium since May 2016 when he won bronze at the European Championships, prompting emotion from the Briton.<\/p>\n
He said:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve not had an individual final & to get an individual podium is amazing. I\u2019ve waited for a long time for it to happen.<\/div>\n

“The last time I did a 200m free and got a medal was 2016, so seven years is a long time, so never give in!<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cThings happen in life but don\u2019t give up. I\u2019m 28 and still PB\u2019ing and I\u2019m happy with what I\u2019m doing so bring on next year.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Guy, thriving on his return to Millfield where he’s coached by Ryan Livingstone<\/strong>, is one of five athletes to be nominated for the award which will be voted for by fellow athletes.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

First up, James Guy achieved a personal feat by returning to the 200m freestyle podium for the first time in seven years at the European Short Course Championships \ud83c\udfca\u200d\u2642\ufe0f<\/p>\n
