NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>The University of Miami has received its first verbal commitment for the 2025-26 season from U.S. Open qualifier Phoebe Mayo\u00a0<\/strong>of Yorktown, Virginia.<\/p>\n

Mayo’s best time in the 200 back is already fast enough to score in the B-final at the ACC Championships.<\/p>\n

Regarding her commitment, she said:<\/p>\n

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Miami! I want to give a huge thank you to my friends, family, coaches and teammates for their support throughout this process and throughout the years!! Go Canes!!”<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Mayo does her club swimming with Coast Guard Blue Dolphins and most recently competed at Juniors East. She capped off her summer season by winning the B-finals of the 400m IM and 200m back at NCSA Championships, after recording five top-15 finishes at Virginia Long Course Seniors.<\/p>\n

Currently a junior at York High School, Mayo is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. She earned silver in both the 100 back and 200 IM at the 2023 Virginia Class 3 State Championships after taking third in the 100 back and sixth in the 200 free at the 5A state meet as a freshman.<\/p>\n
