U.S. Paralympic Championships: Morgan Stickney Sets Pair of World Records<\/strong><\/p>\n

Morgan Stickney<\/strong> set a pair of world records Saturday at the U.S. Paralympic Swimming Championships in Orlando.<\/p>\n

Stickney went 19:21.10 in the timed final of the women\u2019s S7 1,500 freestyle on Saturday morning at the Rosen Aquatic Center. That time trounced the world record<\/a> that had belonged since 2018 to teammate McKenzie Coan<\/strong> at 20:20.78. Stickney\u2019s 800 free split in the race was 10:14.47, which bested Coan\u2019s 10:37.70.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst off, I\u2019m just so grateful to have the opportunity to race this weekend,\u201d Stickney told U.S. Para Swimming<\/a>. \u201cThat was the first time racing the 1500m as an amputee, so I definitely had no expectations going in. I just wanted to have fun because it\u2019s my favorite event. Nationals is a great opportunity to get more racing in. I\u2019m going through a lot medically, so I\u2019m honestly just grateful to be here.\u201d<\/p>\n
