That places him in the thick of the title hunt, trailing the leading Canadian duo.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Josh Liendo<\/strong> set the best time of the morning in 51.71, flying the flag of Florida. Second was <strong>Ilya Kharun<\/strong> in 51.75.<\/p>\n<p>Dressel is joined under 52 seconds by Hungary\u2019s <strong>Hubert Kos,<\/strong> who went 51.86. <strong>Trenton Julian<\/strong> and <strong>Santo Condorelli<\/strong> tied for fifth in 51.90. <strong>Zach Harting<\/strong> and <strong>Aiden Hayes<\/strong> tied for the final finals spot in 52.20.<\/p>\n<p>That relegates <strong>Shaine Casas<\/strong> to another B final in 52.24, though he performed quite well there a night earlier. <strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> finished 14th and <strong>Ryan Murphy<\/strong> 19th.<\/p>\n<p>Also in prelims:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/2023\/toyota-u-s-open-live-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Results Page<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/u-s-open-katie-ledecky-dominates-800-free-charlie-clark-pulls-off-comeback-win\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Night 1 Finals Recap<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/u-s-open-prelims-caeleb-dressel-goes-22-35-in-50-free-return-for-b-final\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Day 2 Prelims<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/u-s-open-shaine-casas-rips-200-im-in-b-final-caeleb-dressel-also-wins-in-consol-heat-mens-recap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Day 2 Men&#8217;s Finals Recap<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/u-s-open-summer-mcintosh-tops-katie-ledecky-in-400-free-kate-douglass-wins-exciting-200-im-womens-recap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Day 2 Women&#8217;s Finals Recap<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Summer McIntosh<\/strong>, the 400 free champ, led the way in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:41.95. The world record holder is more than a second up on <strong>Emma Weyant,<\/strong> with Regan Smith third in 4:43.93. Four Canadians made the A final, with <strong>Ella Jansen<\/strong> fifth, <strong>Tess Cieplucha<\/strong> seventh and <strong>Bailey Andison<\/strong> eighth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chase Kalisz<\/strong> is in position to do the IM double after finishing second in a narrow battle in the 400 IM prelims. <strong>Carson Foster<\/strong> led the way in 4:18.35, but Kalisz is lurking .19 seconds back. Another three tenths back is <strong>Jay Litherland,<\/strong> in a convergence of the top American IMers of the last two Olympic cycles. <strong>Baylor Nelson<\/strong> was seventh.<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s 100 fly is no less engaging than the men\u2019s, with 11 swimmers under a minute. <strong>Claire Curzan<\/strong> led the way in prelims at 57.38, .27 up on <strong>Gretchen Walsh. Torri Huske<\/strong> earned the third seed in 58.10. The A final includes international flavor thanks to <strong>Katerine Savard<\/strong> and <strong>Farida Osman.<\/strong> Teen <strong>Leah Shackley<\/strong> is also in the A final after a 59.53.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Katie Ledecky<\/strong> set the pace in the 200 free, a domineering 1:56.75 that was more than a second and a half clear of the field. <strong>Anna Peplowski<\/strong> was closest in 1:58.33. Also in the A final are Hong Kong\u2019s <strong>Siobhan Haughey<\/strong> and in-form Hungarian <strong>Minna Abraham,<\/strong> plus American teen <strong>Erin Gemmell.<\/strong> Veterans <strong>Leah Smith<\/strong> (sixth) and <strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong> (seventh) also booked A final spots, though <strong>Paige Madden<\/strong> just missed out in 10th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Henry McFadden<\/strong> led what looks like a wide open men\u2019s 200 free, the top eight separated by .92 seconds. McFadden went 1:47.31. <strong>Drew Kibler<\/strong> was second in 1:47.35, with <strong>Luca Urlando<\/strong> a further two tenths back. <strong>Grant House<\/strong> and <strong>Kieran Smith<\/strong> are among the Americans in the A final, with <strong>Blake Pieroni<\/strong> and <strong>Brooks Curry<\/strong> in the B final.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lilly King<\/strong> had appeared to set the fastest time in the women\u2019s 100 breaststroke, but she was disqualified for a downward butterfly kick. That leaves <strong>Lydia Jacoby<\/strong> as the top seed in 1:07.02. <strong>Kate Douglass<\/strong> was third in 1:07.52. <strong>Siobhan Haughey<\/strong> showed off by going 1:08.38 for fifth, ahead of <strong>Anna Elendt.<\/strong> Lithuania\u2019s <strong>Kotryna Teterevkova<\/strong> was second.<\/p>\n<p>The men\u2019s 100 breast brought a tie for the top seed, with <strong>Josh Matheny<\/strong> and <strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> both going 1:00.18. <strong>Denis Petrsashov, Noah Nichols<\/strong> and <strong>Cody Miller<\/strong> were all within a tenth of a second. <strong>Nic Fink<\/strong> finished seventh and <strong>Matt Fallon<\/strong> was eighth to round out an intriguing A final.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Regan Smith<\/strong> led the way in a 100 backstroke lousy with Olympians. The American record holder set the pace in 58.47, .46 seconds up on <strong>Katharine Berkoff. Claire Curzan<\/strong> was third, a tenth up on <strong>Olivia Smoliga. Kennedy Noble<\/strong> and <strong>Leah Shackley,<\/strong> in fifth and seventh, respectively, represent the next wave. Sixth-place <strong>Phoebe Bacon<\/strong> and <strong>Rhyan White<\/strong> in eighth are among the established vets hanging firm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hubert Kos<\/strong> finished a busy morning by taking the top time in the men\u2019s 100 back in 53.50. <strong>Ryan Murphy<\/strong> glided home in 54.15 for fourth, trailing <strong>Jack Aikins<\/strong> and <strong>Evangelos Makrygiannis<\/strong> by small margins. <strong>Daniel Diehl<\/strong> is also in a loaded A final in 54.46, just ahead of <strong>Justin Ress<\/strong> and <strong>Hunter
