{"id":573432,"date":"2023-11-28T20:30:33","date_gmt":"2023-11-29T03:30:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=573432"},"modified":"2023-11-28T20:30:33","modified_gmt":"2023-11-29T03:30:33","slug":"maddie-musselman-kate-douglass-named-to-forbes-30-under-30-sports-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/maddie-musselman-kate-douglass-named-to-forbes-30-under-30-sports-list\/","title":{"rendered":"Maddie Musselman, Kate Douglass Named to Forbes 30 Under 30 Sports List"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Maddie Musselman, Kate Douglass Named to Forbes 30 Under 30 Sports List<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>American water polo player <strong>Maddie Musselman<\/strong> and swimmer <strong>Kate Douglass<\/strong> were named to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/brettknight\/2023\/11\/28\/30-under-30-2024-meet-the-athletes-and-executives-leading-sports-into-the-future\/?sh=5a5b7ab47453\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forbes Magazine\u2019s 30 Under 30 Sports List<\/a> for 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Forbes\u2019 annual industry list for North America, \u201chighlight the all-star athletes, innovative founders and accomplished business professionals defining the future of the industry.\u201d Honorees must be under the age of 30 and have not appeared previously on the list, which is selected by a panel of judges that includes NBA player Devin Booker, WNBA owner Renee Montgomery, St. Louis City SC owner Carolyn Kindle and investment bank found Sal Galatioto.<\/p>\n<p>Other recent Forbes 30 Under 30 honorees from the world of aquatics in North American include <strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong> and <strong>Ashleigh Johnson<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/simone-manuel-ashleigh-johnson-make-forbes-30-under-30-for-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in 2022<\/a>, <strong>Jessica Long<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/jessica-long-named-to-forbes-30-under-30-class-of-2018\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in 2018<\/a> and <strong>Katie Ledecky<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/katie-ledecky-named-to-forbes-30-under-30-athletes-list\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in 2017<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Douglass, 22, is one of the most dominant swimmers in NCAA history. She won 15 NCAA titles at the University of Virginia, where she received her bachelor\u2019s degree. The native of Pelham, New York, won a bronze medal in the 200 individual medley at the Tokyo Olympics, three medals at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships and six medals \u2013 including 200 IM gold, 200 breaststroke silver and medley relay gold \u2013 at the 2023 World Championships. She\u2019s also become <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kate-douglass-powers-into-olympic-year-as-a-cornerstone-for-team-usa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">one of the American program\u2019s most reliable relay swimmers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Musselman, 25, led the United States to gold at the 2016 and 2021 Olympics as well as four consecutive World Championships and two Pan American Games. The UCLA grad was named to the team of the tournament at the Rio Olympics at age 18 and was the MVP of the Tokyo Games.
